I used to live across the street from here years ago, but it was a great burrito restaurant then. Worth a 20-25 minute drive. People told me Kuma has great sushi and it does. Just having two rolls – one special and a yellowtail scallion. Will be back for other rolls and entrees for sure!

Kuma Sushi & Asian Fusion is a delightful addition to Wynnewood’s dining scene. Their sushi is fresh, artfully presented, and brimming with flavors. Beyond the sushi, the Asian fusion dishes stand out for their combinations while maintaining traditional tastes. The ambiance is warm and welcoming. Service is prompt and attentive. If you’re in the vicinity, Kuma promises an enjoyable Asian culinary experience. Highly recommended!

Update on May 7, 2023. Sushi and Sashimi combo very satisfying. The space, with muted tone, textured walls and woody feel, is conducive to reading and/or relaxed conversations. Great value for the lunch special. Generous cuts of fresh fish with no need for a “cover-up” with a heavy sauce. Heavy sauce at a seafood place is a bad sign in my book. The root flavors, what some call “bland”, are the true stars in a show in cuisine styles where minimalism puts stringent demands on ingredients. Kuma strikes me as true to the sushi minimalism in flavor and perfectionism in presentation. Great to be close to this restaurant. The price beats the subsidized World bank canteen. Though in some places I’ve traveled to, for the price of one dish, you get a all you can eat menu(there’s penalty for not finishing). But flights to those places cost much more, right? I’m just grateful Kuma is in town.

I had the veggie pad Thai. I really enjoyed the vegetables and sauce and all the noodles made it quite filling.

I’ve eaten here 3 times, each for lunch. The quality of the fish is fine, but somehow the final product is lacking. Twice I ordered the poke bowl, which even for a lunch portion seemed on the smaller side, and wasn’t very satisfying. On my third visit, I ordered 3 maki rolls. This is the first sushi restaurant I’ve encountered to use (imitation) crab meat in its Philadelphia roll as opposed to salmon, and the spicy salmon roll somehow managed to have no flavor aside from the sesame seeds sprinkled on top, which dominated the palate. All in all, you’re better grabbing carry-out sushi from the Whole Foods across the street.

Superb sushi/sashimi. All thanks to the quality of their fish, which is the highest that I have seen anywhere. Their tuna looks clear and clean like stained glass, and I had squid that I actually liked for the first time here. They treated us very well and recognize when you have a taste for sushi. Will return to try the mackerel!

I came because I live close and like sushi and wanted to see if it was really worth all the five star reviews. It was. Excellent food. Fresh, nice presentation, great value. To sum up, it’s no Michelin star restaurant, but it’s one I would definitely want to return to frequently! Bravo!
