My life has not known peace since discovering this taqueria. I find myself thinking about a box of Al pastor and chorizo tacos almost daily now. The service is great and always friendly, and prices are more than fair. As someone who travels a lot, it drives me crazy that this unassuming corner stand is better than anything I’ve had in Mexico.

If you’re looking for Mexican food in St Louis you always start at Cherokee St. Located in the heart is Taqueria Hectorito, my personal favorite taco stop with an array of mouth watering options! Some go-tos would be the barbacoa, campechanos, or carnitas. They do have burritos and other items as well, I’ve just always gone with the tacos because of how good they truly are. Trust.

Stopped here for a late lunch with the family. Amazing tacos, great selection of juaritos sodas. We sat at a street side table. It is everything I have come to expect from a good taco stand and the neighborhood is great. We could have spent the afternoon there.

Unassuming would be an understatement, but this is about as authentic as it gets. Walk up and place your order, grab a drink from one of the barrels near the register, and sit down on the tiny patio. Or ask nicely and get into the old restaurant area inside; it’s about half storage area, but that’s okay with me. I had the carnitas and the lengua tacos, and both were wonderful. Just don’t expect waiters in tuxes or tablecloths, or a hipsterized faux patina. This. Is. Real.

Got take out order and 2 Margarita for Cinco de Mayo!!! Food is extremely fresh and delicious and the Margaritas were made perfectly!!! Amazing service!!! Would give 100 stars!!!
