Don’s Subs is a McHenry family-owned sandwich shop with video gaming and bar.
We brought back some of the 1980’s style sandwiches – originally from Don’s Submarine on Green Street in McHenry.
Our old-time subs are loaded with your favorite meat, cheese and veggies and our bread is made fresh daily. The old Launcher (Admiral), Torpedo (Sergeant) and Gondola (Captain). Plus added a much newer menu including the Kernal, the Zammer and a Specialty Pickle Sandwich. Dons have Cormbeef, Pastrami, Hotdogs and Beefs.
Our soups are homemade daily along with fresh meatballs, and chicken salad.

This is a hidden gem in the great city of McHenry!! The best sub I’ve had in years . The bread was so fresh and warm. The pastrami was sliced so thin and piled so high!!! Everything is made fresh to order and if that wasn’t enough. They will cater your event. Awesome place ran by some awesome people. Please experience it yourself, you will not be disappointed

The club sandwich was fantastic. Really crispy bacon, perfectly cooked. The small was a perfect size and was very filling. Better than a lot of chain sandwich places where it feels like you’re just eating bland and overly fluffy bread. Good quality ingredients here, the service was incredibly friendly and timely. First time there. Lots of yummy sandwiches to choose from. The Reuben sandwich was so delicious. One of the best I have had. My son devoured his meat ball sub. Very friendly service and fast. Definitely will be back.

We came in for the very first time today, on a Saturday noon for lunch, it was a little busy as they had a catering order to finish up, but otherwise the wait was worth it! The employees were fantastic and were very attentive with asking us to be patient as they were a little backed up with the catering order, asked how our food was, etc. My partner enjoyed his Barn Club sandwich and I LOVED the nachos supreme, it was large portions and reasonable prices! This is a place I would highly recommend, and would be back again soon!

Where to start, The food was amazing. We’ve only been one time and we tried the kernel and the admiral and they were both amazing. Such an amazing sub shop with great prices. Their sandwich combinations are awesome. You won’t find another sub shop like this anymore. The house sauce on the kernel is definitely something to try. My whole family will be there again soon. And I need to give a shout out to the staff. They were all incredible. Our three-year-old loved going there. Something for everyone literally

Food, staff, owners, top notch experience. My first time there, from so many local Recommendations online and didn’t disappoint.. New clients get to spin the wheel and I won $5 gift card.. Can’t wait to try more options.. (photo is of the kernal sandwich) hot pastrami and Cornbeef, Chipotle mayo and provolone cheese. This was a sandwich order only not a combo.. The sample pasta salad was great too.

Love this place the people that work there including the owner are very nice. The quality of the food is top notch. Prices are in line with what you would expect in today’s world. Vast menu options. Including the Desert. They also have an area where you can play the slots while you wait for your order.
