The food is AMAZING and the owners wife, who served us was also amazing. I didn’t think it was slow service like one of these other reviews. It is a very traditional Thai serving experience that I have had at every REAL AUTHENTIC Thai place I have gone to. If you want one of those fast, out of the box food chains, then don’t go here. But if you want a whole in the wall traditional and VERY authentic then this restaurant is a must if you are in Asheville!

Wonderful dishes! Beautiful melding of flavors in each bite. The calamari is some of the best I’ve ever had. Large portions and very good deal for your money. Very relaxing and chill inside.

My coworkers and I love Thai Tara! This place is a hidden gem, everyone I’ve introduced to it has loved their food (and prices). The cashew tofu dish is amazing and their curries are wonderful as well. Vegetarian friendly and delicious 🙂

This is my favorite Thai place in town, and I think I’ve been to most all of them. It’s always the same one lady working, and she’s fantastic. The food is always top notch, she’s always friendly, and I always walk out full.

This was exactly what I needed after a long day walking around Asheville. Great food, sizable portions and fairly priced. The appetizers are five-star. Great staff. Very helpful, courteous and attentive. We’ll definitely come back the next time we visit.

This is a true gem in the heart of downtown that I would have never known was there had I not walked by. My husband and I left an event at the US Cellular Center on the hunt for food, and we happened upon Thai Tara, what a treat. I had a peanut curry dish and the hubby had his usual pad thai that he gets from every restaurant. The patio is small and there were no diners inside, it was unclear if they let folks in, but nonetheless, it was a nice night for dinner on the patio and the people watching was great too. I highly recommend this for thai lovers, it’s reasonably priced and the flavors are amazing!

Excellent flavor combinations. A reasonable selection of brewski’s high quality beverages. Didnt have to wait, plus a giant musical frog instrument in the lobby is great fun. Veggies were cooked perfectly , not too soft, not raw. Great prices. Expect left overs.

Excellent food! We ordered – I’m going from memory, here – the pad thai with tofu and vegetables, the basil with chicken and steamed rice, and the stuffed chicken (first dish listed on the chef’s specialties menu.) Wow. Large portions, too. This place just became my AVL go-to Thai restaurant.

I was very satisfied with my experience to eat here. Friendly staff, large portion of food, prepared well, very authentic, quiet place, left the restaurant with a smile. I will visit it again when I get a chance. Bravo Zulu! Keep up the good work!

Perhaps it’s what I order but I’ve eaten here three times. Always takes twice as long as any other Thai restaurant. Last night, an hour and 40 minutes when restaurant had only 5 tables busy when we arrived. 40 minutes to get summer rolls, ton kha was really uninteresting, and the duck honestly was overdone to the point of being crispy through and through. $50 for that.
