As they bring the menus they also give you a basket full of warm chips with salsa (spicy is very spicy but good, I mixed two sauces). The menu is full of options like vegetarian, seafood, and much more. We went in an hour before closing and felt bad but people were keep coming in after us. The dishes were delicious and the portions were also very generous. Pictures are cheese enchilada, rice, bean, fish tacos, and chips.

we got our food to-go because it was getting late…we got home to eat— my burrito that was supposed to be chicken turned out to be tough steak!!! my beans and rice were doused in salt and completely inedible. i just threw it away :/ my boyfriends food wasn’t that much better— salty rice and a oil drenched chicken quesadilla. service was alright definitely a waste of 31 bucks. I want my money back

Traaaaaaash! I’m from a city where the Ricans cooook cook and this was by far the worst yellow box rice I ever had. The beans had been sitting you could taste it if you know real Spanish food. Bro was petty af and charged us for ice sour cream lettuce and tomato on the side … just trash. Nope. Never again. My bad for expecting Spanish good in VA to be bussin.

It is not often I have such an amazing dinning experience but El Puerto has not failed to deliver a single handed best experience I’ve had at a Mexican restaurant in Charlottesville. Surprisingly good food. At first glance you will think nothing of this place, but the food was pretty darn good. I recommend the chiliquilles or the Jalisco style nachos. The margaritas are medium sized but quite potent.
