Our visit to Southern Spoon did not disappoint. The parmesan chicken wings are hands down the best in town. We also got the mac and cheese, smothered cabbage and seasoned rice and gravy which were all delicious. A special thank you to Karma, who provided us with exceptional service during our visit.

The food was absolutely amazing. I had six huge pieces of fried fish, a container of greens, and a container of yams. Everything goes by weight and everything was explained in the beginning. There was an employee her name was Karma she has the best customer service skills, she has a very inviting smile. I would recommend this place to anyone if you are craving fried fish and greens, I ate the food and I literally passed out for like 3 and 1/2 hours it was everything I wanted and more.

Being from Houston, I grew up eating what all good Southerners eat for New Year’s meals… ham or pork chops, black eyed peas, cabbage & cornbread. I mean, I don’t know if you heard, but if you don’t, you won’t have good luck, success or money! So, I searched high and low & couldn’t locate anything and didn’t prepare to cook, but I stumbled upon Southern Spoon & I’m sooo happy I did. I called to verify they had the staples, and honey, they did NOT disappoint! Best food I have eaten in Omaha. And if you don’t get yourself some wings, you will be making a grievous error. Best wings I’ve ever tasted in my LIFE! I think I’m just gonna quit cooking. I almost feel embarrassed to walk into my kitchen now.

Ok the food was absolutely delicious. Some of the best. The place was very clean even looking into the kitchen you could see they are very serious about their cleanliness. My feedback is the music was very loud for a small space. I was standing next to my wife and couldn’t make out what she was saying. They should turn it down when they have customers come in. The price of the food was outrageous also. I had 10 chicken wings and my wife had 5, I had a large side of yams and Mac n cheese. My wife had a small scoop of cabbage, Mac n cheese, okra and rice ordered a slice a lasagna but never got it. Our bill came up to $85. I’ve gotten a big order of seafood before that was less expensive than this. I would go back if the prices were more reasonable. But as of now I’m grateful I tried but the prices will keep me away. And the prices were not visible. We were told they sell by the pound.

First-time customers get a free chicken wing! I felt like I was having a conversation rather than ordering food at a restaurant, the service quality is just that good! They fix your plate for you in a Subway-style setup: you point, they scoop. Since they cook your entrée fresh, you will have a short wait, but the sides are ready and on display. They weigh to pay, so how much you pay depends on how heavy your food is. The place is small, so there’s only room for 2-3 parties to eat inside, but taking it to go, the food was still great and super flavorful–there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t like. I can only imagine what it would’ve been like eating it fresh!

Tasty dinners with fantastic options! Fresh out of the kitchen, maintain the food warm and favorable. Patient and friendly service and staff! Every time I walk into the place, they’re always ready to serve my meal and answer questions about how they do the food. Also, if you are curious about tasting the food before placing it onto the plate, they let you have a small taste to make sure the meal is good and the way you like it. Also, Karma was nice, sweet, and patient. She makes you’re getting what you want on your plate. I appreciate her patience and kindness. I recommend Southern Spoon for a tasty meal!

Do not walk RUUUUUUNN to get you some of this amazing food!! Soulful and fulfilling! The Owner is such a positive insight and makes your meal 10x better! The customer service is immaculate!!! The chicken is sooooo good and we had the opportunity to try the oxtails falling off the bones is an understatement!!! The flavor was bold and delicious! Thank you for having us! We will be back!
