It’s always great to find a restaurant that is just excellent in every way – and Asador Del Sur is that! The service was friendly and prompt, the decor is well done and the food was nothing short of excellent – from the empanadas to the flourless chocolate cake. Even the beans and rice was worth the visit. I am looking forward to going back and trying more dishes!!

Another very nice restaurant in Maplewood. Tried the Sangria and it was delightfully smooth and sweet. For the appetizer I had a beef empanada. Nice and crispy on the outside and mouth watering on the inside. For my entree I ordered the 8oz fillet cooked medium with yucca frita. The steak was cooked nicely and it had a good sear. The meat was not buttery tender as I was hoping. Several bites were a little chewy. This was disappointing. The yucca fritas were enjoyable. Tried the flan for dessert and it was smooth and delicious. I’ll be back but I don’t recommend the fillet.

We stopped in here as part of the Maplewood coffee crawl and so glad we did! They were SO nice and encouraged us to try try an empanada which was DELICIOUS! We were so glad to hear they do a brunch (always on the lookout for a good brunch place) so we decided to check it out. Food was incredible and the staff are some of the nicest, most polite and accommodating people we’ve come across in a long time. Definitely gonna come back for dinner soon.

We celebrated a family birthday and was delighted with our meal and the service provided. All dishes ordered were very tasty. I had the vegan plate and all veggies were well prepared. We were happy with our timing because part if the evening, we were their only table. It is small and I would recommend reservations. We will definitely go back.

I have been wanting to try this place since it opened but have not had the time. Wife and I went for lunch today and wow it was unbelievably good. The empanadas were unreal. The rice and beans were some of the best I have ever had and the skirt steak was some of the best steak I have ever had (especially with the chimichuri). I am half Ecuadorian and was super excited to get to a South American restaurant. Highly recommend eating here and we will be frequenting this place going forward.

Everything we’ve ordered, from drinks to entrees to side dishes, have been delicious. The only thing we haven’t tried are the desserts because we’re always too full. We even ordered a side of mashed sweet potatoes to go, so we could try new dishes, but still take home those magic sweet potatoes for another meal. We plan to go back for a drinks & desserts night soon.
