Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and Restaurant did not disappoint me in Charlotte either. During my visit around 2:30 pm, there wasn’t much going on, so I was led directly to my seat and could photograph undisturbed from there. For lunch, I had opted for the Weekday Lunch Special, consisting of Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes with a vegetable of my choice – green beans this time. This was accompanied by the obligatory cornbread with Grape Jelly. The service was fast and friendly, the food delicious and reasonably priced. In short, if you like Southern cuisine, the Cracker Barrel and its value for money is very good.

THE GOOD: The food is average. The vegetable soup was cool and not very tasty, the biscuits and muffins were good, and our server Ashley, was excellent and the price is very good so all in all you get what you pay for.

First and foremost the food was cold. I ordered the peach cobbler, what I got was they opened a can of peaches poured in this tiny container and sent to me. Next, let talk about them dry biscuits that damn near choked me to death. Than they did not sent my cole slaw. I spent 0ver 40. Next the steak fries, cold no taste disgusting. Meatloaf no flavor, grilled cheese they took 2 slices of cheese and slapped between bread. I will never eat here again, and if I could cuss someone out to that damn face I would. Find some damn cooks because the ones you got cannot cook. I am send a picture of what they called Peach Cobbler. I am so mad I could spit. Had my mouth already for this food only to have them send me this damn slop. Pigs would not eat this mess. Do you see this picture? This is called peach cobbler. I threw the rest of that damn food away.

The wait was about 30 to 45 minutes which wasn’t really that bad for a Sunday after church. The food and our host was good she brought our food out hot and fresh and kept of drinks full and checked on us, the only thing I’ll say is there parking lot is small and fills up quick so you may have to drive around the lot a few times while someone else goes inside and puts your name on the list besides that you should have a good time, enjoy.

This location is usually pretty busy. We happened to visit when it wasn’t that crowded. We got seated right away. The server was very pleasant but not attentive. We received our food in an acceptable amount of time. Everything was hot and tasted great! Took entirely too long to get the bill, and it took too long to get syrup and our bread. Aside from that, we love Cracker barrel and will visit our usual location.

So this was different but interesting at the same time. When the decor doesn’t match the food, it makes me wonder why. I can see from the mini store in the front to the sitting in the back that I was blown away.

The staff seating people seemed very confused about where to put people. Menus weren’t ready and we waited over a minute just to be greeted. Once we were seated, we got our drinks and then waited over 15 minutes for somebody to come take our order. It took 45 minutes to get our food which was a Hasbrown Casserole and the Shrimp, Tenders, and Tips plate. The Hasbrown Casserole was barely warm and the hash browns had turned to mush. We waited almost 5 minutes to be brought our silverware. Has to ask repeatedly for our drinks to be refilled and the waiter never took the old cups so they piled up on the table. There were several tables around us that were never bused and had dirty dishes left on them. I’m not sure if this is a management thing or a low staff thing but we definitely won’t be back to this location.

Very interesting franchise restaurant. Very traditional American food with biscuits ,gravy , hash brown grits coffee stewed apple and pancakes. Amongst other things. Nice waitress table service. Rocking chairs outside on a deck and a fun filled adjoining shop. Even if everything is overpriced Chinese. Highly recommended. Worth a detour
