It is a small place, many would probably describe it as a hole in the wall, but it didn’t have that feel to me. The chef, Peter, (and I am calling him a chef by the way he listened to and took care of us, plus the confidence he put in the food), was very nice and attentive. Everything was made to order. It was a combination of West African cuisine and a small sprinkle of American and soul food dishes.

I got the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with Jolly Rice. The rice was amazing buttery and tomatoey at the same time to a point where it kind of melted in your mouth. The sandwich tops Chick-fil-A’s and is jam packed with seasoning and flavor defilingly would recommend.

We got the fried chicken sandwich, fried fish, plantains, and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was flavorful and the best part. The chicken and fish seemed fairly bland, but we might just prefer a more robust seasoning. Overall this place has great potential, oh and great lemonade.

I love this hidden Afrikan Resturant in Southeast DC. It is a black owned business in my neighborhood that provides healthy quality options. The family that runs it, is from Ghana… they make the bread in house from scratch, make the fries from scratch, and speciality handcrafts all of the meals and the prices are reasonable… so far I had the ackee wrap and the chickpea wrap… one of these days I will try the jollof rice with the pan seared catfish

If you’ve never been to Open Crumb, you are doing yourself a disservice. The folks in that kitchen have blessed hands. Never had anything that wasn’t tasty from here. You can tell their meals are made with love. And it’s black owned. Looooooove this spot!

Open Crumb is great! After reading reviews for months, we stopped by for lunch. We were so excited. The fried chicken was fried fresh, and we also picked up some hot sauce. It stayed crispy through a 20 min drive back home to NE, and everything tasted amazing. Can’t wait to come back.

Tasty, interesting, quality food! Friendly staff. Love the fish po boys great fish, bread, condiments. Love the crab cake sandwich, fried chicken sandwich too! The spinach stew and jollof rice are fantastic – aromatic and flavourful! We are sure to be regulars!
