Bernie’s Oyster House was founded in 1993 at its original location on Savannah’s historic River Street, and expanded to Tybee Island in 2006. We specialize in fresh oysters, with a wide assortment of other seafood dishes and full bar. On Tybee Island, we’re in the heart of the South End business district, a short walk from the Pier, beach and shopping.

I feel like the food options could be better. Went here expecting more seafood options, which they did have a little bit, but their choice of seasoning was limited and wasn’t what I was expecting. Seeing how the majority of the people there were eating burgers, sandwiches, and pasta made me hesitant to try their seafood options.

Sunday night dinner. 6 of us craving seafood. Didn’t want to wait for an hour to eat at Fannys. Asked a local if Bernie’s was good: she replied “all the restaurants get their seafood off the same 4 boats”….. we tried it and it was excellent. Great entrees and no wait! Don’t expect glasses, silverware and table cloths…..just plastic cups, plastic forks and great food (and a really good playlist over the speakers).

This came as a recommendation and I’d definitely continue to pass it on. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive. The food came out extremely fast and everything was good! We got gumbo, a bucket of oysters and they were really good sized, crawfish which had great flavor, fried oysters- really crispy, big, and extra yummy with the bang bang sauce, and seafood nachos- also yummy! Very casual vibe and not a large place but would definitely recommend
