Unfortunately just didn’t quite hit the mark on most dishes. BBQ duck sandwich and short rib Mac and cheese were good. Burger was a frozen patty, cooked medium rare (ordered medium), and mushrooms on it were raw. Butternut squash ravioli was ok but too sweet. Anvil chicken over cooked and dry.

What a great experience having lunch here with friends, like being in a different world or place. Easily Germany or France. Food was great and the prices amazing for the atmosphere and the service.

The atmosphere was lovely, the Bluberry Lavender Mojito was DELICIOUS, the food wasn’t even mediocre! We both ordered the bacon wrapped chicken breast that was supposed to be stuffed with chives and cream cheese, mine had none & his had a little spot… NO FLAVOR!! The Garlic Smashed potatoes were so thick you could have mudded a wall with them and had NO GARLIC to them,NO FLAVOR!!

Short rib Shepard’s pie has awesome flavor! Great location by the Milwaukee River in the Woolen Mills building. Had lunch on the patio and enjoyed the view of the river!! The Smokey Chimney duck sandwich had good taste, wish it had more duck though. Had chocolate chip cheesecake…OMG, large piece and excellent taste!! Stop in when you are at this awesome town for shopping!!

Went to the Anvil for a Birthday meal and I greatly enjoyed going there. The building itself is old but incredibly well kept homely in a pleasant way, cozy and very clean! The service was good and very patient especially considering I has to wait for my other company to arrive, no problems there! The food was excellent, from the shepherd’s pie I got, to the duck wantons and even the mozzarella sticks, all was fantastic to me. I loved it at the Anvil, give it a go if you’re in the area you won’t be disappointed!

The restaurant is housed in a beautiful brick building dating back to the 19th century. They also have plentiful outdoor seating with a lovely view overlooking a waterfall.

Overall, it was a great place with a rustic, welcoming atmosphere. However, they seated my party up a long flight of stairs, which challenged the elders. The waitress was frazzled and let us know that. The food was really good though and the fresh brewed iced-tea is a must. Everyone enjoyed their dishes – from a southwest salad to onion rings and all in between, it was quality food. I would definitely return.

I love the Anvil! Whether you are a local or a visitor to Cedarburg, you will always be welcome. The food is fantastic and John, the head chef, is 100% invested in preparing the best dishes to the customer. Kudos to the entire staff ~ we will always make this a stop when we are in town!

Our experience was hugely disappointing on all fronts. We reserved a table for 8 to sit on the patio. When we arrived, we were told it would be 10 minutes. We waited 20. Then we were told that the table they needed for our reservation just got their food. WHAT? I had friends from out of town and I specifically brought them to Anvil because of the beautiful patio. They crammed us upstairs, it was loud and our waitress had to scream at us to hear. The food was just okay, nothing special at all. Smashed potatoes were dry and flavorless. Salmon was boring, could’ve made it at home. Needless to say, we will not be back!
