Food selection was decent and the ones we chose were pretty good. It’s a very small corner spot which seems to cater more for takeouts rather than dining in. The place looked clean with a few tables and counter space inside. There are more tables and seating outside with picnic tables and benches.

This was a friendly place that had a lot of variety at their walk-up counter service. We ate in the restaurant. The inside is small but there is also outdoor seating. The taste of the food was authentic and delicious. My husband ordered their specialty Halo-halo. We even took food to go.

I do not understand these horrible reviews, absolutely unwarranted. I have been to the Philippines many times and the food here is AUTHENTIC! Maybe when other reviewers are saying the food isn’t tasty it’s because the food is not as salty here as it is in most Filipino food. For me, I think that’s a plus because then I get to salt to my taste. However, the food had so much flavor of soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, everything that is part of Filipino cooking. I gave the atmosphere only four stars, but the restaurant itself is totally authentic, it’s small, no frills, just a few seats and with a soda fridge. You might as well have dropped me in the middle of Manila, and I loved it. The owner and chef is so sweet and patient as I tried to decide between all the dishes she had prepared. I was surprised how many offerings there were at 4 PM on a Saturday. I chose two pork dishes, adobo and unfortunately I forgot what the second one was. Both of them tasted so different and I loved that. The pork was really tender and the portions were extremely generous. Unfortunately, I missed the garlic rice. I am a huge fan of halo halo at first I was a little put off at how much it cost, $13, and then it was served up and I understood why. It was huge! On top of the size, so many of the ingredients were obviously made in house and aren’t the usual suspects in halo-halo, like fresh plantains that were simmered in some kind of yumminess to make them soft. They were still warm, but not hot enough to melt the ice. The sweet potato was also warm and soft and perfect. There were so many different variations of ube in the halo-halo as well. I loved this restaurant.

It’s our first time in this restaurant and honestly it wasn’t what we expected. Food took long, staff were always fighting and it looks like they’re understaffed, space was very tight and small. The food was average for Filipino food, which isn’t at all bad. It was kinda a hit or miss. We definitely did not enjoy eating here. You can hear the staff shouting at each other and you can pretty much see that they do not want to be there. As much as I hate to bring my fellow Filipinos down, I do not recommend this place. It is very hot, the AC is pretty much non-existent and the space is super small. If you’re eating alone and good with waiting for your food for a very long time, go ahead and disregard my review. Do not go in large groups. You will not have space to sit down at all. They also charged us wrong in our receipt. We did not bother to come up again because the cashier was not kind. I am Filipino and I’ve been to other Filipino restaurants in different states and I do think this is the worst one I’ve been to so far. So if you’re looking for some Filipino food, save yourself some time and money and eat somewhere else.

Arrived at 6:27 PM as google’s business hours listed they were open until 8 pm. Drive 25 minutes from Alexandria specifically to try their halo halo, only to enter into the physically open restaurant and be told by the employee they were in fact closed. The neon sign on the side of the restaurant literally still was on, and the door physically opened. Pretty annoyed to have come out of my way, to find it was closed. The employee also showed no empathy which drove me to leave this review.

This is my first time trying this place, and I absolutely loved it. From their friendly staff, large menu options, generous portions for the price, and most importantly their delicious food. I got a duo platter which comes with rice and two entrees. The food there doesn’t have any labels, and since I’m not too familiar with Filipino food, I asked the employee to tell me what each of them are. He was really friendly and told me which is which, and gave me some recommendations on what to try out. I ended up going with the chicken adobo and beef tapa. I also substituted the steamed rice for their garlic rice for just 50 cents extra. The food was amazing, and they gave a very generous amount to me

I just walked out from Kamayan restaurant and am confused with the charges on my bill. I am a foodie and have tried numerous restaurants before but have never been charged an extra tax on meal. believe the State of Va. tax rate is no more than 6% but this restaurant charged an extra tax for non-cash credit which was 14% of my total bill. We only ordered desserts and a bottle of water. I googled it and 4% tax rate is applicable on meal tax that is applicable to customers. I should not have been charged for this additional tax just because I used a credit card. Also their foods were different than pictures.

The food is good. But they give you to much rice for a little bit of meat. Why they can put meat over top of the rice in a bowl.

Phenomenal Filipino food! We had the chicken adobo, pork stew and beef tapa with garlic rice. They have some desserts, snack foods and tasty drinks from the Phillipines too. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely will be back!
