Maybe I got there a little too early (7:00pm, Monday night) but the restaurant was completely dead, which is always unnerving. It might be because of the price, this place is expensive, even for the centre of town. Despite all that the food was excellent, and the service equally good. I’d go back with a bigger party and sample more of the menu.

What a beautiful restaurant, it feels like you’re under the sea. It was intimate and not over crowded or loud. The food was amazing, especially, the crab cake appetizer, pork. chop and seafood stew. It’s great for date night and groups. The service was top notch as well.

We chose Ula because of its proximity to the San Francisco Playhouse, and it turned out to be a great choice. My husband had a San Francisco Sour, which was good, but not great. The arancini were a bit lackluster, but both our entrees were wonderful. The risotto with mushrooms, asparagus and spinach was cooked to perfection and the seafood ravioli made with squid ink pasta was heavenly. If you have a fondness for very sweet desserts, the profiteroles would be a good choice, but we found them overly sweet. Highest marks for our waiter, Alex, who was attentive and who shared the very interesting history of the building with us. The restaurant itself is quirky but beautiful, with amazing sea urchin chandeliers in the main room and though it was quite full, the noise level was great.

We had our Anniversary dinner here 7/13 and what a memorable night as we were greeted at the door with exceptional service throughout the night by outstanding waiter Alex ♀️ at our new favorite European Spanish Mediterranean @ularestaurantsf !! Alex was funny and very humorous as he filled our evening with laughter. The restaurant is so big and the theme through is really historically nautical and ambiance is on point!! For apps we ordered Bruscetta and the Beats & Burrata (I like to order this any chance I get and it showed out and was phenominal if you‘ve never tried Beats & Burrata I urge you to try this light mozzarella like cheese fruit dish!) For entree I ordered Souris D’Agneau which is a roasted decadent “Lamb Shank” and my partner ordered the unique preparation of the Branzino fillet (it was not the whole fish if you are weird about looking at fish eye balls or picking through bones, no fear here!) It was a much more appealing presentation! For dessert we ordered the bread pudding which reminds me of Mexican Capirotada and was delicious and a rich and creamy Creme Brûlée that paired well with the 10yr Taylor Flagdate Porto Tawny. Please try each and everyone of these you will not be disappointed!! We look forward to our next visit and can’t wait to try more meals here! Please follow me on IG @venusverssace

My partner and I recently celebrated our 11th anniversary at Ula, and I must say it was an extraordinary dining experience from start to finish. Located in the heart of San Francisco, Ula not only impressed us with its charming ambiance but also captivated our taste buds with its exquisite cuisine.

The food was okay but I’ve definitely had better anywhere else. I got a dish that was a little spicier than I expected and wanted to order something else I let the manager know that I would still be paying it but just needed to take another look on the menu. He said “of course you will” and proceeded to give me attitude and rolled his eyes. He then took my food to the chef and loudly stated that I was complaining about the food and made fun of how I couldn’t read the spice level on the menu. My waiter Trisha was extremely nice and I definitely think the manager needs to pick up on her manners. They include a mandatory 20% tip and charge a SF Mandate Fee.

I will start by saying WoW. The atmosphere was spot on very romantic. I ordered the lamb chops which had this delicious gorgonzola glaze. I was celebrating my birthday and Eva made me feel extra special on my day. The custom drink, a birthday candle and all. All the staff was extremely attentive. I can’t wait to come back to San Fran to dine here again! Thanks again to the staff and especially Eva!!!

Food is all right. Service is very strange. If you order a bottle of water for four, the glasses are made so full that you need two bottles.
