What a delightful find this little restaurant was! I was in town to see my daughter in college and we were both in the mood for sushi. Oddly, in the Springfield area, Asian restaurants close at 2pm and then open later for dinner. Umi was about 5 down on Yelp recommended that is even open through from lunch until dinner so we gave it a shot. I LOVED the cozy ambience with warm & welcoming dim lighting, which would be really great for a date night. My daughter and I wanted time to visit and the waitress was very polite and accommodating with our “slower” pace. We started with a sampling of small plates (gyoza, a sushi roll, and shrimp tempura). Then we both had hibachi for the main course. Of course dessert, which was delicious as well. Will make this a regular tradition when visiting Springfield!

Probably my favorite sushi experience in Springfield so far. Very large menu and multiple chefs preparing food so it came out quickly. We ordered off of one sheet so it all came out on one large plate and looked very impressive. My favorite was Da Roll which was a large pile that had vegetable tempura on top of the actual roll. We had a bad sushi experience a few blocks away a week ago at a highly regarded place. After this experience at Umi we will probably just go there from now on.

Great Food and Great Service. Touchdown Roll, Spicy Crab Roll, Gyoza, and Crab Poppers. Any roll purchase comes with soup and salad so you can have a Great value meal as well. Neat Decor. Clean Bathrooms as well.

Please do yourself a favor and order the coconutty martini. Also the gyzo is really tasty! I opted for the salmon hibachi, which was amazing! Just a tad over cooked.

The food was good, fish appeared fresh. Atmospherically the restaurant has mixed vibes. A cross between a sports bar and a romantic dinner. The service was not terrible, however the pacing was sluggish at times and refills never came.

A must stop for aAtrue taste of Japanese sushi in Springfield, MO. Never a disappointment. The nigiri and shashimi is high quality. Highly recommend the gyoza and kissy kissy roll. For those just starting to try sushi get the Springfield roll it does not have fish but instead steak. A perfect gateway starter. There Coconutty martinis are also a must try for anyone who enjoys sweet fruity adult beverages. They also have dishes you would find at a hibachi grill. (Sorry they cook it in the kitchen not at the table.) The atmosphere is perfect for date or quiet evening.
