A very decent Japanese restaurant. Their food was not only tasty but the garnishing looked great as well. Each dish was very delicate. We ordered several dishes and I liked the beef tongue the most. The service was very nice and the atmosphere was pleasant.

They were not attentive at all. I noticed that they kept serving the asian families around us first. I didn’t even get to order what I wanted to eat so I got stuck ordering just an appetizer. It was too difficult to get their attention, so thirty minutes later I went to the register to pay the bill. The gentleman at the register looked busy, so I waited patiently and silently. He looked up and asked what I needed. I nicely told him that I needed to pay my bill. He said nothing, looked back down and continued doing his thing. About four minutes later, he left the register, so I went and sat back at my table. I didn’t get to pay until 20 minutes after that.

So nice to try this Japanese restaurant out in Del Mar. This place has an amazing ocean view. It is really really popular. I have to say the service is extremely slow, that makes me almost give a 4 star, but I can tell they really need more staffs. The waitress is nice, she really tried hard to make everyone has service. But it is super slow…. We waited over 30 minutes to place our food order. Gladly the foods came to our table not too slow. And all the foods are very delicious. I love their menu, you can get almost anything that you want from a Japanese restaurant, even including sukiyaki hotpot and grilled beef tongue. I was craving for cold soba noodles, and I enjoyed my food. I just hope they can hire more staffs soon.

It’s a little hard to find, but worth the effort. It’s just up the stairs at the corner. After a hospitable greeting we were seated on a gorgeous patio under a heat lamp. The menu is on your phone via scanned code. The menu is huge! I had the Assorted Sushi Platter with six pieces of delectable fish and shrimp. We also had Veggie rolls and a spicy salmon roll. The wasabi was strong and excellent. The service was attentive. We are so glad we discovered Shimbashi Izakaya.

We live near by and we were looking forward to try this place. We’ve been eating at the restaurants on plaza level. Food was okay, nothing special. Service was terrible took a long time to order and even longer for food to arrive the appetizers salad, all the food showed up at the same time, hadn’t finished eating when rudely told we have to leave while celebrating friends 30th anniversary because they had reservations, so did we. Restaurant is between a busy road and a walk path. No view and no atmosphere.
