One of my Philly bucket list items has been to try an authentic steak from either Pat’s or Geno’s. We decided on Pat’s. It was delicious – I ate the entire thing, and I don’t normally make it through half. Seating was tough, but we went to the park next door. Recommendation: look at the menu ahead of time and know what and how to order. Cheese fries weren’t our favorite, but then Pat’s is the King of Steaks, not the King of Fries.

Pat’s King of Steaks has been a Philadelphia institution since 1930, and it’s no wonder why it’s your favorite. The mouthwatering combination of tender, thinly sliced steak, melted cheese, and fresh bread creates an unforgettable culinary experience. Every bite is a taste of tradition and history, making it a must-have while visiting Philly. The friendly service and vibrant atmosphere add to the overall enjoyment of the meal. Pat’s King of Steaks truly lives up to its reputation as a classic destination for an authentic Philly cheesesteak that’s worth savoring again and again.

I had an American classic a Philli cheese steak from Pat’s King of Steak. It was a pepper cheese stake with onions and Cheez Whiz. Tasted just as expected and was very good and worth the wait. Once you are at the window it goes fast. The line is much shorter than it looks. Food is great!

Just OK cheesesteak. Got the sandwich “wit out” onions and with provolone. The bread is hard style roll that’s tough to chew through. The cheese was almost a non factor and not very noticeable so definitely ask for extra cheese, if you get provolone. The steak itself was chopped and fine. Pat’s is definitely the less flashy of the two establishments at the Passyunk intersection. But still, worth a try if you’re inclined. The sandwiches aren’t cheap and it’s cash only.

Well my family and I were so excited to try a Philly cheese steak and we decided to try out Pat’s. Well the location itself was pretty hard to get to and good luck finding a parking spot. I ordered a cheese steak with onion and cheese whiz. The cheese steak was a huge letdown. $15 for a steak sub with no flavor. It lacked of salt and seasoning. It was a great disappointment.

Supposedly this is the most traditional place in the whole world to have a genuine Philly Cheesesteak. Even Rocky Balboa was the by 1976, as the plate proudly shows it. The place is simple, with longe lines, and for 15 dollars you can get the famous steak. It is as good as it can gets – a simple bread, steak and cheese meal, and it comes in a good size. If you are in Philadelphia, you definitely should go there.

This is the king of cheesesteaks. I can confidently say that out of all the knock offs I’ve had elsewhere in the country, having this be my first experience to a true Philly cheesesteak was exceptional.

Who makes it better? Geno’s or Pats?
