The food: I got the jerk chicken. It was served over white rice with a side of mac n’ cheese, string beans and cornbread. Oh my goodness it was delicious! the chicken had a nice smokey flavor and literally fell off the bone. The mac n’ cheese was also amazing. The green beans were great as well. This restaurant is exactly what this area desperately needs.

I have to rate Nu Soul five stars. I still need to taste more of the menu, but what I have had was cooked to perfection. I’ve had the fried chicken and the beef ribs as entrees. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and sauced perfectly – fantastic flavor! The fried chicken was juicy and tender with a crisp coating. Both the ribs and the chicken were enough for two on one plate. I’ve tasted the collard greens, rice and peas, steamed cabbage, and mac & cheese. All have been extraordinary.

Visiting from out of town and took a chance on this restaurant today. What a treat! Top-notch customer service and the food was EXCELLENT!! If I lived closer I would come here all the time. Ordered the Jerk chicken, greens, and green beans and he had me sample the mac n cheese, sweet potatoes, and rice. Blew my diet, but well worth the splurge – no regrets! All of it was delicious.

My mother ordered for the family yesterday. I requested shrimp and grits. The fried shrimp was disappointing. I was also expecting a sauteed shrimp with a type of sauce. The grits we’re horrible. They we’re not cooked all the way. They did not have a smooth texture. Thick and smooth is good for me but it was just thick. I also tried some of the sides my family ordered. The yams and macaroni we’re better than what I had. I did not like the fish. It could’ve been seasoned more. I just feel like we got reheated leftovers honestly. My father said they owe him a plate from last time and after my first experience I wonder why. I’m mad because I waste my mother’s money and threw away my platter. I will most likely not go there again!

Great food! I was at Deborah Hospital for two days visiting family. The cafeteria food was not the best so I had to venture outside the hospital. I found Nu Soul Cafe online and I’m glad I did! I ordered shrimp and grits but I couldn’t resist the wings as they were sitting there, freshly done. I tried a few while I waited for my food and they were amazing! The shrimp and grits was also a crowd pleaser and plenty for the cost of the meal. I highly recommend this place if your in the area looking for a great meal.

Rockin! The owner was so hospitable and friendly. I told him I had never been there before, and he was happy to give me samples of the sides. I ended up ordering the fried catfish with yams, and Mac n cheese. I will be ordering again!

A great local restaurant just outside the gate at Fort Dix. It might not look like much from the outside, but the food is fabulous. Authentic soul food. I had the jerk chicken with rice and beans and collard greens. Huge servings! Friendly customer service. And they give a military discount!

This was my 3rd time eating here and it was Amazing!!! Had the ox tails pork ribs Mac n cheese yams collard greens everything was so good best yams ive had yet!!! Best if you call your order in first definitely would eat here again and its close to home plenty of parking

Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Fried chicken was bland, plain and very dry. Cabbage flavor was like it was being served in a nursing home, plain and nothing soul about it! Mac n cheese, someone threw in some shredded cheddar for the illusion of craftsmanship and baked it. The cornbread is more like corn cake, definitely from a box. Nice owner but you gotta know how to cook to call your business a soul restaurant and this places sorely misses the mark. Oh and that $6 in change you didn’t give me, keep it, I think you’re gonna need it.
