This authentic Mexican restaurant and store has one of the best aguas frescas” spa waters” that I have tried, the food was good I had the Enchiladas verdes with chicken which they were spicy just how they supposed to be if you like spicy food, the salsa with chips was really good, definitely recommend this place.

Good market if you want to get some authentic Mexican food at the restaurant or some food to cook your own meals. They usually have yams and a few “ground foods,” but the last time I went, they didn’t have any yams. Also, they usually have nice selections of plantains and some other choice goods.

If you’re looking for true hole in the wall and some amazing Mexican food, I highly recommend checking out La Colonial. It’s a hidden gem located inside a Mexican supermarket off of Jordan Lane. The interior is plain, but it is inside a Latin supermarket. One bite and you will agree their quesa-birrias are cooked perfectly sand seasoned to perfection. As a foodie, I can say that it’s one of the most authentic Mexican dining experiences I’ve had and definitely worth trying. I’ve eaten at many other restaurants around town, and a lot of them are not as flavorful.

The chips and salsa appetizers were so authentic! The salsa was actually spicy and the chips were made in house. Tried the a sope and taco and would recommend both! They birria must be a favorite because they were all out…guess we’ll have to go back;)

Hands down the best barría I’ve ever had. I ordered the barría quesadilla and hubby had the barría tacos and carne asada fries. We ordered take out online it was hot and fresh when we arrived. The barría was loaded with flavor and I could have easily just drank that! The carne asada fries had a little gristle in it but other than that they were loaded down with toppings which I appreciated. We opted to dine in instead of driving it home. (Great decision). The dine in area was very clean and the few people dining in and distanced themselves from others.

Very good Mexican food. The only place in Huntsville that I know has Birria tacos. Very yummy. Just be careful what you eat. If you think something is a carrot, it might actually be a habanero. Learned that the hard way. They served two different kinds of salsa one chile verde and a red one that was nice and spicy.

I visited La Colonial Tienda Mexicana for lunch on several occasions. I have ordered the tacos al pastor, torta, mole enchiladas, and beef soup. I often look around the store while I waited for my order. The service was fast and friendly and there is always parking. I enjoy the food and I will keep returning. Today we tried tacos de birria. It is not on the menu. They were delicious!!

This place is a grocery store that has a little restaurant on one side. Heard they have the best birria tacos in the area so wanted to check them out. You get 4 birria tacos for 11.99. The tacos are street taco sized. The birria was really good, but I was wishing there was a little more cheesy goodness inside. I’ve only had birria tacos at 3 places here and this is actually not my favorite place for them. I will have to try the rest of the menu later.
