This was my first time trying this place out! The ribs were great! Fall off the bone, dry rubbed, and you can taste the peppercorn. Great flavor. The barbecue sauces were good. One tasted like smoky ketchup, a sweet BBQ sauce, and a chili tasting one. I gave four stars because of the ribs!

My husband and I have been eating at the Rib Shack for several years. We enjoy most everything they offer but really love the beef ribs. I had them cater my 60th birthday. Shawna helped me coordinate the event. She was personable, professional and knowledgeable about what foods work best and the amount to order. The day of the party they showed at time promised and had everything set up and were ready for us when the time came for us to eat. Everything I ordered (beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, Mac n cheese and cowboy beans) was cooked to perfection. Everyone in attendance really enjoyed the food. And there were just enough leftovers to enjoy for the next couple of days!! Thank you Shawna and everyone at the Rib Shack who helped to make my birthday special.

It was pretty good. The ribs were yummy and the brisket had some good fat on it. The smoke was tasty as well. The mac n cheese was and cheesy with a satisfying flavor. The cowboy beans were interesting. They weren’t bad, just had some interesting flavor.

The customer service is always excellent ! The food is great. The price is reasonable. I love the brisket sandwich, fried okra and choice of sauces. The peach cobbler is amazing! This is definitely one of the best bbq places in San Diego county. This place is a hidden gem. I highly recommend!

Great BBQ! They smoke it low and slow. The ribs and brisket are super tender and delicious. The coleslaw is homemade too. I definitely recommend. This is Texas style BBQ.

I got the brisket sandwich with coleslaw. The bun was fresh and warm and really good. The meat was very tender and juicy, but lacked in flavor. Adding a bunch of BBQ sauce made it a great sandwich. The coleslaw was decent. All in all it was still way better than I expected.

This is the “Best Rib Dive on 395!” The best BBQ I’ve had here in California! The ribs don’t even need a sauce! But the sauces are both very tasty and compliment the ribs nicely. I got a side of okra and it was fried to perfection. I’ve also had the catfish sandwich, which is fillets with a spicy slaw on top and had a very good bun. There is a nice outdoor dining area too. The decor on the inside makes it look like a shack thats where the nickname comes from.
