Fabulous dinner, perhaps the best trout I have ever had. This place would be a find in any major city, and to find it in a small town is incredible. If you are in the area, stop by!

Found this place on Foursquare. The menu looked really good so decided to go there after our hike. Didn’t know it was a reservation location and we got there in our hiking clothes (a little embarrassing) but the hostess was really nice and allowed us to stay after a person cancelled their reservation. The place was pretty booked that night and the food was awesome definitely will be back….. Hopefully, in proper attire…..

The food is delicious and delicately prepared. Thoughtfulness is placed into every creation. The manager/waiter is very kind. Ingredients are local, which is always appreciated. My only gripe is that for the portion, prices are quite steep.. Even for the farm to table, since many of the local non-chain establishments have the same philosophy but do not charge exorbitant prices. With that being said, I had a wonderful time with my friends and we all enjoyed an excellent meal!

I work on Upper Street in Spruce Pine and eat at Knife and Fork weekly. Nate and the staff are very personable, Usually have a good laugh with someone. From the moment I walk in the door and smell the food my day gets better. I love the wood fired burger and local seasonal vegetables. The menu is always changing with fresh produce availability , so lots of new choices. Very glad to have this amazing restaurant in town!

I went for brunch on a beautiful Sunday and felt like a “foodie Queen”. Although the restaurant was full, the service was wonderful, and there were 11 of us. Do make reservations though. We tried several appetizers and each was better than the last. The stuffed figs were my favorite. Some had egg based brunch meals and I had a trout sandwich which was so good I would have licked the plate. They smoke the meats they serve and then there was dessert. WOW I never eat dessert but everything was so good up till then I had to try the lemon cake and it was fabulous.

I’ve been here probably half a dozen times, and I’ve always been impressed with the food. IMO, it compares favorably to similar restaurants in NYC and Washington, D. C. that my friends have introduced me to. I’ve been here with family and friends, and I’ve never heard anything other than lavish praise from the people that I love. The new location’s dining area has a bit more echo than I’d like, but the open kitchen makes up for it…and the food is just as good as it’s ever been.

If you are looking for a five-star restaurant in terms of quality and ingredients outside of New York or Los Angeles, thus Spruce Pine restaurant has it. They are truly farm to table and head chef and owner, Nathan, takes his award winning cuisine to the next level with locally sourced produce and meats. I had an amazing dinner where the starters, entree and desserts all were some of the beat dishes I’ve ever eaten. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable as well. You do need a reservation but it is worth it because I would drive an hour to eat here so others do to.

Tonight is my fourth visit to Knife and Fork. As always, the food was absolutely stellar. The service tonight, however, was severely lacking. When we first arrived, the waitress brought water and bread. Great sign. It went downhill from there. We waited 15 minutes before being addressed. At all. But she was not busy. That we could have understood. She visited the table next to us three times during that 15-minute period and during the off time, she was doing paperwork. While. We. Sat. There.

Had lunch there today. The steak, pepper and cheese sandwich was to die for and very reasonably priced for a higher scale eatery. The salad (beet , feta and radish) was excellent. The salad greens were crisp and the dressing blended perfectly. We sat in the garden area and enjoyed the fall foliage. The service was excellent. I am looking forward to eating there again soon!
