This place is a legend in this area and for good reason. They have great BBQ, great burgers, and great fries. But the best of the best is the Po Boy with Gravy. That gravy will blow your mind. Simplistic with a wonderful depth of flavor, you’ll be asking for more every time. The staff is the picture of Southern hospitality. Great place to eat.

Older, cool lookin place. Food was decent. I had ribs and brisket. Two BIG spare ribs (too big, should have baby backs) brisket was chopped- expected sliced. No bark- tasted like roast beef. No smoke. Ribs were better.

If I owned this restaurant, the girls “working” this evening (AKAkeeping the seat of the stool warm , while being completely mesmerized by their phones. There was one other table of 2 in there . They left soon after we got there. There were 2 dirty booths when I got there and 4 when I left.the light covers had generations of dead bugs in them. The food was decent, but the fries were most definitely sitting under a hearing la.p for a while before I even ordered. The server had zero personality. I don’t know how they tricked the owner into paying them to sit on those stools, but he/she needs to watch those cameras.

Got the ribs and sausage. By the time I thought of taking a pic, this was all that was left on my plate! Best ribs ever. Perfectly smoky, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth yumminess. My sides were new beans and green beans, both delish. And I was lucky to get a piece of pecan pie to top it off. Highly recommend. It’s obvious why they’ve been around since the 60s. And the staff are great; friendly and attentive. Go get some ribs man. Hubs said chicken was great too. They were out of brisket

Every time I make it back to Bastrop, I have to stop at Slayden’s. It’s still one of the best places to get a little barbecue. The sauce is so good because it is not overly sweet and it has a little bit of bite to it.

Best BBQ Brisket in North LA. Friendly staff great BBQ Beans and whipped potato salad with sweet pickles. Had a large group very accommodating quick in and out. Friend had a side fried okra that was crisp and could be eaten as a meal

The restaurant is indeed racist. I’m a black female & when I walked in nobody acknowledged my presence. I stood at the register in front of their faces waiting for my order to be taken. Nobody said anything to me. It was obvious they were not busy because they were just standing there. I was practically invisible to them. All of their other white guest were served & tended to with no problem.

Had been eyeballing Slaydens while hauling freight to Arkansas. Called about 30 mins before closing on a Friday evening and placed a to go order. Told them I’d be there right before they closed to pick up my food. The smoke master and what I assume his daughter welcomed me and were very kind even though they were closing soon. I was very pleased. The ribs fell off the bone and the brisket was very good. The sauce complemented perfectly. I will be back.

Has to be one of the worst BBQ joints I have ever tried. I know it’s popular with the locals, but this place is lacking. The BBQ sandwich was like a sloppy Joe and the beans weren’t very good either.
