The outdoor seating was nice. The food was good but not amazing. The staff were super friendly and patient. They are not knowledgeable on dietary restrictions such as gluten and dairy. The ladies thought rice had gluten and didn’t know soy sauce did.

K’s drive inn has been around a very long time, long before my time. But the food is timeless. I usually get the loco loco, which in my opinion is the best in town. I highly recommend for an authentically Hilo experience.

K’s is an old school Hawaiian drive in. They got all the classics. I got the Loco Moco and was not disappointed.

Very simple, cheap food. Hard to go wrong when pretty much everything is in the $7-9 range and it all tastes good. Fast service and outdoor seating here. The sauteed ono could’ve passed for sit-down restaurant quality, so it’s not all dive-y kinda food either!

Excellent fries, crispy but soft in the middle. Pineapple twist cone had excellent flavor that was sweet and tangy. T here chicken katsu is excellent too.

What a local would have I guess. Korean Chicken and Loco Moco was good! A bit on the salty side for me though. Friendly staff and cheap! Finally.. Im not getting ripped off as a tourist.

Some of my friends know me as “B-U-T-A”, which means in Japanese as “PIG”. Yeah, I LOVE to eat, as the saying goes, You eat to live. But I live to eat. Always have been. And K’s is the kind of place I’ve always “HANG OUT”. I LOVE the old mustard/mayonnaise yellow sauce on the hamburgers, lunchrooms, okazuyas, saimin stands and of course Drive-Inns. And as MANY people know, there has been MANY drive inns in the past, and most of them have since closed. I am ecstatic that we still have places like K’s. It’s nothing fancy, just good old “solid” grinds. Portions have always been good, taste has always been good, prices have always been good, and selection has always been good. Hard to beat yeah? Whooo.

Stopped at this place on a humbug after the whole family got off the plane and Hilo and we’re famished. It would have been cheaper to go to the grocery store and take food back to the BRBO and cook but hunger and a desire for local fairs persuaded us. I had the beef teriyaki it was delicious my daughter had the chicken plate it was so so we tasted this Saturday special Portuguese bean soup which actually had ham in Portuguese sausage in it it was tasty enough. The burgers and fries were good for the kids but the burgers were a little small for the adults. Met local people who are nice the staff was very good at explaining all the different options on the menu and overall it was a great experience. I love my food not so sure about everyone else it was pretty average for them but I would return.

Classic local menu. Fair pricing. It seems like the plates are getting smaller lately but the ice cream is still on point. Best floats and double flavored twists around.

Food was decent, prices are excellent for this day, staff was checked out when I was there – I’ll be back and hope that everyone is more on top of it.
