We have been to jacksons place many times but none have been as bad as today. It took 15 minutes from ordering to getting our drinks. They came back and took our food order before bringing our drinks out. They forgot half the order and completely changed an order without letting us know. The tenderloin tasted like fish from being fried in the same oil. And our drinks never once got refilled. My husband ordered a grilled cheese and the cheese wasnt even melted.

Food was great and people were friendly. Only thing I could recommend is to put a sign at door. My first time and I wasn’t sure which door it was. But once you are inside it was a great atmosphere.

The Steak Pit is a wonderful resteraunt. I eat here 2-3 times a month, and have never had bad food. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive. I really appreciate (and enjoy) that the chef actually makes so much of the food by hand, instead of buying everything frozen.

I cannot say that this was the norm as this is my first time going. It seemed as though all of the staff was new, and they couldn’t even take an order. She came back to our table numerous times to ask what we wanted. We spent 2 hours here altogether. We waited a very long time for our food and they messed up more than half of our orders. Of course we understand it isn’t always easy serving a group, but they did not even tey to fix anything. We never got refills on our drinks, we were missing half of our sides for our orders. We tried to explain what was missing to see if we could atleast get a price reduction for missing so muxh and the staff was not helpful at all. There didn’t seem to be anyone there with any experience with customer service at all. Behind us, a single man was charged for a table of 6 people on his card rather than his own bill. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they didn’t even apologize to the gentleman and he had to deal with it himself. The table next to us had a baby ( probably around 1) that ate a few bites of dads salad and they were charged for a full price salad on top of dads salad (8$) just for the baby! They didn’t reduce their price either. We heard them say they were definitely never going back. All in all, if you go, you might want to make sure the owner or manager is there and pay cash!

Stopped in while traveling through. Had the fried chicken special with mashed potatoes and apple slaw. Was expecting some deep fried chicken but this was the real thing. Delicious! Met the owner … wonderful gal. Give this place a try! It’s a small town gem!

Would be a higher rating but this time,it was really a trying experience with time spent waiting for your order to no silverware to salad served last. Normally it is well worth it. I will change the rating if everything goes back to what I know is normal.

Very horrible service!!!! Stood at the entrance for 10-20 min before someone finally said ” you have a togo order?” No… oh ok well sit anywhere guess we need a sign or something. Then 3 of the 5 orders that I seen delivered to the tables were wrong. Heard 2 other tables complain. Took forever to get the food out. Wasn’t that great of a meal. Would have walked out but was with other people and didn’t want to embarrass them. Oh and a lady from another table came up to us and asked for our catsup saying ” I think they’re making my catsup are you finished with yours?” And they still never brought her any before we left. Booth behind us said they need “restaurant rescue” I agree…

I needed a break from truck stop cuisine. Walked a mile up into town and had a delicious 14oz cut steak baked potato and Salad. Very friendly staff and even offered me a lift back to Sinclair truck stop. I declined because this lazy mother trucker needed the exercise. Recommended to all truckers waiting on a Smithfield load.
