Went here for a date night and it was a great, I really enjoyed the feel of the place and there was some nice jazz/classical music playing while we ate. I ordered the chicken paramsean which was cooked very nicely and had a great sauce. I would order different noodles next time, but I was just trying something new. The garlic bread came out hot and was very seasoned and tasty, my gf got the Risotto alla Pescatora which was a special for the day and she loved it “5/5”. Will definitely come back here next time I want Italian, and I reccomend for a cute date night.

Food was good and a good size for one. Everything was fresh. You can enjoy your meal with light Italian (and some English) music. They have limited seats and not much room to wait inside.

This is what 15 bucks of pasta and 7 bucks in chicken gets you. The “sauce” is like milk. Flavorless and just liquid, no texture to it at all. 5 small nuggets of chicken. No flavor to any of it. The best I can say is it was warm and with enough salt and pepper, eatable.

Delicious! We had the fried calamari as a starter and it was so good! I really enjoyed the tortellini. I wish I wasn’t so full to try the tiramisu.

The food was great. The service was not great. It was freezing in there, as well, and there was a heater over the door but it was not running even though the room was full of patrons. They seemed to be so busy fulfilling take out orders that it took 45 minutes for the waiter to come to our table to take away the dishes from the last customers who sat at our table and take our drink order. It might not be bad if they served drinks or something but it was a cold wait with no acknowledgement from the staff. We had to stand up and wait in line with the take out delivery people to call attention to our table. No drinks came, not even water. The waiter seemed very inexperienced and it seemed like he was the only one working on Valentine’s Day. He took our order and we waited another 45 minutes for the food, which arrived half warm. The potatoes were cold but the chicken was fresh and warm. The chicken piccata and eggplant parmigiana were perfect aside from the cold potatoes. Sauces were great. Our waters arrived after our meal arrived, the appetizer never arrived so we tried ordering it again to eat with our meal. The appetizer salad arrived and it was quite big, but not very well dressed. It was a generous portion of arugula with some vinegar, beets, nuts and cheese but not quite enough oil to balance the acidity off the leaves.

Lobster ravioli is great! They now have table service so that’s really nice and a heater by the door so it’s much warmer now. Really terrific improvements. If you haven’t been in awhile try it again. You might like it better now.

Why is it so hard to get good Italian food in the East Bay? Ordered takeout and it was a mistake. They just plain forgot to put one of the items in the bag, the other two were extremely mediocre. Then they put a absurd amount of dressing on the caesar salad. Who dresses a takeout salad in the first place? It was soggy and gross by the time it got to us. Do yourself a favor and order elsewhere.

My husband and I love Luca! It’s one of those comforting restaurants that always hits the spot! We are regulars and love their spaghetti pomodoro, the chicken livers, arugula salad, their homemade sausage and the tiramisu.

My wife and I have been going to Luca’s for several years. It is an amazing experience every time. They have recently switched to table service and have added a heater over the front door. Nothing on their menu is bad.
