My bf and I always wanted to try this place after seeing the sign “Home of the Oxtails”. We were extremely excited to go today. We ordered oxtails, yellow rice, greens, yams and Mac and cheese. (Cost $41) We are so saddened to say that it was a huge disappointment. After just a couple bites, both plates went in the trash. The oxtails were not very tender and was drowning in a gooey gravy that had undercooked potatoes and carrots in it. The greens did not have a satisfying taste, the yams were bland and a bit dry and lastly the Mac and cheese was very watery and just all around nasty. I wish I had something positive to say but this place did not meet our expectations at all. I would love to give this place another chance if a change is made.

Auntie’s kitchen is not too bad of a restaurant the cabbage and collard greens was okay and needed to be seasoned more. There was nothing really special about the oxtails just to be honest. But as you can see in the pictures they do got different variety of food. Update** sorry I forgot to put in this review that the customer service at the restaurant is a 5 star.

Greetings! It truly saddens me to give this review, but I have to. I grew up here and have patronized with many black owned restaurants. Auntie’s is by far the worst I have ever eaten from. I took my son there for lunch 8-22-2022. He ordered Meatloaf, Greens, Mac & Cheese. I ordered Oxtails, Yellow Rice, Greens and Mac & chess. I also got a slice of Meatloaf. Our food came to $56.02. For the price paid, there were no forks to eat with. Only flimsy spoons. Also for that amount, you don’t even get a drink with the meal. Now, let’s discuss the food. The Meatloaf was made with imitation meat, not actual ground beef. It was hard inside and out. The taste was so bland. The rice was gummy and stuck together. The Oxtails weren’t done. I was given 3 small bones and a lot of gravy. The Greens were canned Greens with a lot of added sugar and seasoning which made them taste horrible. The Mac & Cheese had a mound of barely melted cheese atop of the Mac shells. I could go on but I’m getting sick in the stomach again just trying to describe that horrible taste. I don’t mind paying money for great food, but their prices are ridiculous. Especially, for the grade of food and pitiful service. I can assure you all, if this was the only restaurant left in town, I’d rather walk to Texas just to get a meal.

Oh there is so much to say about Aunties Kitchen! Are you familiar with those times where you want some good down home cooking like Grandma cooks on Sundays? Yep….this is the place! The food is so flavorful and filling and there are a variety of options to choose from. The portions are huge. I literally had enough for just about 3 meals. The staff are very down to earth and friendly. I came back for my second visit just a few days after the first and they remembered me and my order! I also love that they have specials for the college students which makes this an affordable option for some “good eating”. Definitely give Auntie a try!

I I reside in Tallahassee Florida. I happen to have grown up eating the kind of foods that this restaurant repairs. I have very little complaints about the food however I’ve ordered from this restaurant twice in the last year and each time I’ve been sent an incomplete order. Each time I’ve ordered through Uber and the results were the same. The food I have no complaints about it’s accepting really good. However the service and attention to detail as completely flown out of the window on this restaurant. I am African-American and I love to patronize African-American restaurants however if this is the kind of service I should expect from this restaurant they’ll never be hearing from me again.

I stopped by here traveling, when I tell you this place needs to be shut down. The food is so nasty I threw my whole plate in the trash. I started to ask for a refund but y’all already know how our people cut a rug in our businesses. Everything tasted old and sour a few hours later my grandma went on to complain how her stomach was hurting and she threw he plate away after having the stomach ache. Based upon how the food thing looks that keeps the food warm you can tell that place is riddled in roaches. Look how the owner speaks to people in the reviews that should say enough. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else. The tables were filthy, the cook didn’t have a hair net come on we have to do better. That cornbread taste like it’s fresh out of a 3 year old easy bake oven.
