They recently changed up there burgers and fries. It was very good. One of the better burgers around here. Will definitely order again.

Good, Southern, homey meals. Nothing fancy, but everything’s good. 10 oz ribeye is my go-to. Service is always fast and with a smile. Prices are reasonable. There’s a drive, but it’s a pretty one.

This place is on the backroads, thus the name. You could easily miss it or not even find it. Best steaks in town!!!! No kidding! Surprised they didn’t have me cut it myself out back…

I used to frequent this restaurant when it first opened years ago. I hadn’t been here since 2007 and was so glad to see they were still in business when we passed by yesterday. We brought our 13 year old who has heard us talk about Backroads many times. She loved the tea being served in the mason jars and her favorite was the tiny bandanas on the horseshoe art/napkin holder centerpieces. Overall, she just loved the atmosphere and was in awe at all the men wearing cowboy hats. She opted for the Fried Chicken Tender (more like half a huge breast split into two “tenders”) Poyboy and omg it looked delish. She was only able to eat half because it was so big. My other half got the Porterhouse and it was still one of the best steaks ever! I had been wanting some good grilled/blackened catfish and recently mentioned that the last time I had a really good one was at Backroads. It’s been about 14 years and I’ve ordered this at several restaurants during that time but NO comparison to theirs. It was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside. Definitely satisfied my search for grilled Catfish and I’m so happy they’re still in business and still have the same great food as they did when they first opened many years ago. If you live in Baton Rouge or other areas, the drive down Hwy 67 is well worth it! You’re greeted with smiling faces, very attentive wait staff, and just an overall great family or date night atmosphere. Try them! You won’t regret it!

Steaks were very fatty, but flavorful. Very nice salad and potato. The server was excellent and everyone was friendly and courteous. The beer and wine were reasonably priced.
