H.B. Culpeppers was established in May, 1981 by partners Harry Spielman (H) and Ben Bruns (B). The company name CULPEPPERS was borrowed from the role of Spencer Tracy’s character, Captain C.G. in “It’s A Mad Mad World”, Culpepper.

My burger tasted like old meatloaf and was overcooked. My fries were soggy to the point of flopping. There were only a handful of people in there at the time, so no real excuse for the bad food quality. I’d save your money.

Great space for dining. Quiet and private seating. Completely separate dining from the (main) bar area.

Great Fall drinks! Can’t beat the Happy Hour prices! Our group loves to come here because they are always very accommodating, good service, nice atmosphere, good drinks, good food.

The cook did an excellent job on my husband’s burger, the waitress/bartender was friendly and calm.

Ordered a beer and it took fifteen minutes before they informed me they were out. Another ten minutes to get a Miller light. I ordered a burger that was supposed to be served with Cole slaw and fries. I literally had to search for the Cole slaw. It was hidden under the fries and was a a tablespoon worth. Will not be going back. Shame because it looked like a nice place if it was managed better

Watched the bartender this evening completely verbally berate a waitress, screaming at her, insulting and calling her namrs in front of everyone. Not cool. If this is what the manager allows I definitely won’t be back, and will be spreading the word.

The exterior said little of what was inside. A limited menu and very few tap beers. The barmaid was more concerned about her nails and cleaning out her eyes than taking orders and being cordial. Our server was pleasant, a redeeming quality because the food was mediocre. We ordered a portobello sandwich and it was the smallest I have ever seen! I ordered a steak salad which had chunks or chewy meat and fries that were soggy and barely cooked but still inedible. Very little to no dressing.

Haven’t been there since 1994 when I lived in Indiana. Dated Heather empfield who work there. What an awesome place! Atmosphere was incredible and so was the food! Indiana is a great little town and if you ever swing through it you must stop at Culpepper’s!
