We always pass this place and I always say ‘Loosie’s! Ha!… Love that name’ and this time we stopped in. Super happy we did. I had a loose meat sandwich with a side of beans and my other had a grilled tenderloin with a side of cottage cheese. Both really good sandwiches. The pork loin was basically a double meat sandwich because the meat was folded in two…. Big hearty sandwich . They don’t offer fries but the sides are good and there are chips. The cheese is a cheese sauce…. Good to note as it isn’t the same as sliced cheese. Also got a hoodie… Thick material and great price. Fun and frieny staff. Definitely a place to mark as a favorite to repeat visit.

Damn this place was great. The canteen in Ottumwa Is my fav place of all and this place was right up there with it. In fact, all the other patrons in there with me were from Ottumwa. So yes, a great loose meat sandwich and amazing Mac n cheese and good root beer floats. So happy this place exists! Also there is no parking garage above it, yet.

It’s a small restaurant which gives it a local feel. If you have ever had the Canteen in Oskaloosa or a maid-rite, you will enjoy the signature “Loosie.” They have the best loose meat sandwiches in Cedar Rapids. The other menu items don’t disappoint either! They have shakes, malts, pie, chips, etc. Also, the drinks (which are Pepsi products) aren’t anything special, but the unlimited refills and vintage looking plastic cups give the whole place a humble and friendly feel. (P.S. The milkshakes are great!)

The loose meat sandwiches are piled high with meat and topped with your choice of ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, and cheese. The sliders are good sized with onions cooked right into the meat and topped with cheese. The baked beans were flavorful and smoky. The only downside was one of my buns was dry. The people are amazing and super friendly and they have the most awesome little shop, reminding me of the old school deli/malt shops of yore. The prices are very good for the amount of food you get. I would definitely recommend any one to eat here, plus you will be supporting a small business. Go here for your classic loose meat sandwiches.

Everything about Loosies is above and beyond fantastic. The food has so much flavor, it’s some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I usually get a No Bun Loosie, which they make SO filling with all the veggies they add to it and the amount of meat they give. You get a LOT for your money here, and they’re very reasonably priced. They always have a smile and are very welcoming to anyone that comes inside. The building is one of the cleanest I’ve ever seen and it’s adorably decorated. It’s obvious they care about their business and they definitely show it. Thank you Loosies.
