In 1959, Kermit Krause bought “Gene’s Place” from his dad and Krause’s Cafe was born. Serving only a noon meal, Krause’s was frequented as a saloon and became known for their beer, dominos and card games. It’s our hope that Krause’s Cafe will forever be a New Braunfels staple, serving as a gathering place for family and friends.

Absolutely gorgeous little restaurant. Been living in New Braunfels for a year. Decided to take some friends to a new place and it didn’t disappoint. It was great experience 0 wait to get a table. To the food coming out was hot and also delicious. The desert was good as well. I can highly recommend when you are in the area to check out and try this place. Restaurant has outside and inside seating. With this Texas heat inside is where you want to be. I definitely need to come back to try other things on the menu.

This was a very pleasant atmosphere with a great selection of German and Texas beers! The Bavarian pretzel was delicious! The German Meatball and the Bratentashe were delicious as well and we loved it. The spicy mustard was so different than anything we have ever had! Great spot!

Upon arriving in New Braunfels, we noticed a sign for Krause’s and figured that we’d check it out for lunch. It’s a very big, open restaurant/biergarten. They had an enormous selection of beers.

Great Beer selection from Germany and Texas!! Tried a flight of different German beers. Sausage appetizer sampler was awesome with four sauces. The Schnitzels were hand cut, pounded and breaded in-house y’all!!! Not delivered frozen from Sysco! Unfortunately they do deep fry them instead of pan fry. Veal for Weiner Schnitzel should be pan cooked in lots of butter eh?! Came with roasted potatoes and green beans. Green beans were excellent and also had a side of red cabbage which was good too. My sweet Vegan had their homemade vegan sausage. There’s a small indoor seating with AC and two huge outdoor seating areas. Looking forward to returning when the weather cools off.

This was a fabulous experience! Our server, Delpha, was incredibly kind and attentive. The brussel sprouts were a 10/10, the baked potato soup was a 10/10. I wished the steak sandwich was sliced instead of cubes of meat, but the tenderness and flavor were 10/10. My partner had the sausage platter and he devoured it. The Bienenstich was a delight.

We’ve been twice and both times were wonderful. On our first visit, our server, Antonio, was superb. Great beer knowledge and recommendations. The food was delicious and if you’ve ever seen Movin Melvin you know the music and atmosphere were amazing! We’ve only sat outside, but there are two separate indoor areas with their own vibe. We’ll certainly be adding this spot to our frequented locations.
