On 1/25/23, I had to work late and stopped at Happy Teriyaki on Federal Way in Boise for take-out. This was my first time visiting this business. I was a bit skeptical because I knew it was a franchise with 10 Idaho locations, but it was on my way back to the office and I always like to try new things.  I was pleasantly surprised.

We used to love this place. Unfortunately with new employees the quality of service and taste of food has gone way down. We remember the sweet girl who used to work up front and always got our order correct, and the food was always amazing. The new girl at the front doesn’t know her head from a hole in the ground. We will not be returning to this location.

Not all Happy Terriyakis are the same. I’ve received just okay food at another location and when you’re paying these prices (which I think are on the higher end) you want great food. Well this Boise location had it. This location is out of my way by a lot but we will go here over others that are closer just because they know how to cook the food right. Always delicious from this location!

Southeast Asian wife really enjoyed the shrimp tempura and katsu chicken. She gave praise to how the rice was prepared as well. I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken and veggies. Decent serving sizes. Very clean, especially in the bathrooms. Limited space for dining in, so would suggest doing takeout. They provided plastic containers that hold up much better than the normal styrofoam ones.

My mom and I had driven all day from Washington and stopped overnight in Boise on our trip. We wanted an easy, quick, good dinner to eat in our hotel room and Happy Teriyaki was just what we needed. The teriyaki chicken with yakisoba noodles was soooo good, one meal was more than enough for both of us, full of veggies too. Egg rolls were also delicious. My elderly dog would not eat anything all day and we were so excited that she loved some of the chicken. They brought my mom water while she waited too. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
