I enjoyed most of the food until I got out the combination rice we paid EXTRA for more shrimp as well. This is an entire bowl full of it that had only one piece of shrimp in it… they definitely skimp out on what they say they will deliver.

Recently moved here a few months ago and today I been with my 2 year old daughter in the hospital due to asthma and been here since 4am this morning and decided to try food here. I ask my sister to go get me an egg fu young special , 2 egg rolls and a side of chicken fried rice and everything was nasty. The sauce was plan and the food smell funny. I ask for a refund and they didn’t give me one so I tried the food and it taste how it look nasty. I wasted 20 something dollars and still hungry. If you from “Chicago” do not buy.

I ordered the lunch Chicken Teriyaki with white rice from the 4770 E. State St location. The chicken was very very overcooked, and rock hard. I ended up picking all the chicken out because I just couldn’t eat it. The sauce didn’t even help soften it. The broccoli and rice were okay. Maybe they make the chicken ahead and then reheat it, but they need to make sure not to overcook it then. Should have stuck with the fried rice I normally get.

Not bad. Lunch specials come with rice but no drink or egg roll. However, the price is right. I would order egg rolls on the side. Ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Mongolian beef. The fried rice is okay. I would go steamed rice next time. Mongolian Beef is better of the two, large beef pieces and includes mushrooms and lots of onions. The sauce is a little too much (soupy). A little on the sweet side. Will try again sometime soon.

I ordered delivery from Rodeway INN, literally 0.2 miles away they charged me $5 delivery fee which is fine. Then I receive a phone call from Happy wok asking if I planned on tipping the driver.. for driving 2 seconds down the road lol. I think it’s horrible customer service when an establishment asks the customer if they’re going to tip. I know it’s right to do but jeez, it’s so uncomfortable

I only give it a 3 because of the rude lady in the front. I’m pretty sure it’s the owners. She seems completely miserable in her life! The food is always amazing! I never will say a lie! But this lady needs some customer service training

We didn’t have high expectations for Happy Wok. We just needed a place we could walk to downtown. Even considering that I was still disappointed and a little grossed out. The food *tasted* good, but I couldn’t finish it because I was worried about cleanliness. When we walked in almost every table had crumbs and grease on top. The counter was cluttered with packages and boxes, some closed, some open. Books with photos of cakes and desserts to order crowded the counter. An empty rack for selling something also took up space. I could tell it is a family business. A teen girl worked the counter, then sat and watched videos with another girl. In between customers they did no misc tasks. The tables remained dirty, the counter cluttered, and the phone often rang on, unanswered. We won’t eat there again, which won’t be a big loss because we aren’t local to Rockford. I’ve never given a review like this before and I feel a little bit sad about it. If this place cleaned up the front of the store (and I assume the kitchen as well) it could earn and sustain a good local following. The crab Rangoon, the egg rolls, and our main dishes were well cooked and flavored.
