The Japanese family that operates this restaurant has maintained an eloquent atmosphere where simplicity in design yields traditional allure and beauty. Do reserve a table so that you do not miss out on the excellently prepared dishes in this limited rather small and intimate, yet not crowded setting. The menu is diverse with delicious and exquisitely flavorful dishes to satisfy most appetites. You will be pleasantly surprised by the large portion size nigiri. The prices are far more reasonable than most venues and with their hyper-inflated costs. An ideal location for a date, friends and family to have a memorable dining experience that is rewarding in value.

I’ve been going here for many years, but didn’t go to restaurants during the pandemic. Went back last week and loved it. It’s unpretentious good sushi. The menu has been scaled back a lot since “before times,” but the fish quality is hands down better than everything else in town. It’s tiny and run by a couple (I assume). They have their system and I humbly honor it. I’ve seen other people complain about the service, but I find it a relaxing, calm atmosphere created by down-to-earth people. If you’re wanting shmancy fusion with weird American trends, this is not the place for you. More for me!

Awesome little restaurant! Food was amazing, fish tasted very fresh. I liked how there were not too many options on the menu and we ordered all of the speciality rolls. The customer service was phenomenal and very friendly. We definitely recommend and will be going back. Support local!

What a treat. Open for limited hours, and does not look super appealing from the outside, but treat yourself to some amazing sushi. The nigiri is fresh and very large, and the unagi is the best that I have ever had. Will definitely be back here.

Despite the charming, small town vibes at Kurata, the fish selection is limited, common items like ikura are often unavailable, and our dishes were uninspired (one of the rolls had plastic wrap leftover). We were the only ones in the restaurant at this time, yet we had to repeatedly request attention from the hostess for water, tea, and other small requests.

Very small yet pleasant Japanese restaurant serving fairly standard but quality Japanese fare. Sushi, teriyaki, tempura, combo bento boxes and such is what I’m referring to. My review is limited mainly to sashimi which is what we were all in the mood for. I had salmon, tuna and yellowtail – all very fresh and very good. The atmosphere is quiet, calm and relaxed, at least the night I was there which was Tuesday evening. Service is similarly not harried so don’t come here if you are in a mad rush. On the flip-side, if you are looking to have a quiet conversation with your +1 or friends without having to shout above a loud din, this is the spot for you.

Below mediocre. Despite the charming location the quality of fish was so so, my son ordered eel&avocado roll and the eel was very bony & rubbery, it had more skin then the actual meat really disgusting. Ended up ordering simple avocado roll, and still was charged for eel & avocado roll, even tho we returned it because it was impossible to eat.

I lived in Japan for twelve years, so I can be a bit picky about sushi places. I love this place. Great atmosphere. Excellent food. It’s small, with limited tables. Your order may take some time, each piece is made to order. This is not a fast food joint, be patient and enjoy the experience.
