I came upon this restaurant when out working in the area. The entrance looked very plain, but inside it was very nice and clean, well taken care of to be sure. I liked the golf club display at the entry which taught me about Taylor Made’s history in McHenry. There is a lot of space for a small wedding banquet. When I went, it was very quiet as it was not the height of summer. The food was not too expensive for a country club restaurant open to public, portion size was great, and fries were crispy. Nice view of the water way behind the building.

Went there with my family to celebrate my first mothers day. We went at 2pm for their Mother’s Day brunch when we walked in a lot of the food looked gone through and scarce. The food was cold, pancakes hard and the skillet was very oily. We had the table for 1 1/2 hrs and they started clearing out the table 45min into brunch. The dessert table only had a few items left you can tell everyone from earlier in the day has gone through, whatever was left had flys on it. Do not recommend this place. For the price I could have went to a much nicer restaurant with hot food. Regular soft drinks weren’t even included in the buffet price. Ridiculous and a waste of money.

Went for a Mother’s Day Brunch and the service was severely lacking. It was buffet style, with carving station and a skillet station. The food was mediocre but the service was almost nonexistent. There was one small carafe of water for a table of 10 which filled just a few glasses. Some of us did have mimosas but the rest in the group had no water until we flagged down a server who did finally bring one more small carafe and much later, one more small carafe. You had to get your own coffee and tea from an area that the staff seemingly forgot about. The area had coffee spilled all over the place. I heard people looking for someone to fill the empty pots on different occasions. The one hot water carafe had warmish water, not hot enough for tea. I emptied that container, left the lid off so it would be obvious it needed a refill, went back 30 minutes later, still empty. So with my meal I had a small mimosa and a half glass of water because that was all that was provided. It would be much more enjoyable if the server brought drinks to the table instead of having to get your own. It took my husband so long to get a cup of coffee for his mom, that his food was cold when he got back. So he ate cold food while waiting for some water to be brought to the table. I’m suprised a restaurant thinks this is a good way to run a Mother’s day brunch! The wait staff needs to be trained to be more attentive to basic needs.

This was the absolute worst place that I have been for Easter brunch! They ran out of prime rib, shrimp, oysters, rack of lamb before people could even have there first plate this was a supposedly a buffet. We had to wait to get food for over a hour. Omelets were raw . It was totally unorganized, I had a drink spilled on me and my daughter while we were waiting in the unorganized line after all this the 12 of us decided to leave. Who ever is in charge of organizing and planning the Easter brunch should be fired! Will never come to this place again and would advise others not to go as well!

This was a horrible Easter Brunch. It ruined our entries family Easter. We were a table of 14. It wasn’t the crowd that bothers us. It was no plates, raw food, old food, not any selections either. We have been going to McHenry County Club for decades. This unfortunately will be the last year. If I could give 0 stars I would of.

This was my first time and the meal, service & atmosphere far exceeded my expectations! I went on a Friday night and there was a talented musician who truly added to the total experience. I highly recommend and know that I will frequent the Metalwood Grille!! Give it a try!

Dinner on the patio was lovely. The family loves their fries. The Metalwood Club is a great summer sandwich. Try it with avocado!

Food good but service terrible, worst that I ever remember having anywhere. Staff seemed untrained and confused. A number of diners left in disgust. Given wrong bill and waited way too long for correction. Definitely will never go back.
