Mmm mmm some good old fashioned Chicago comfort food!! I wonder if the owner is from there? Either way I feel right at home. The burgers are delicious, and today I got a dipped Italian beef with giardiniera and cheese sauce. LEGIT! Haven’t tried the chicago dog yet but I know I will. Only complaint is this place isn’t open that often but I heard they are going to extend their hours soon.

Dale’s Burger Shack in the Murdale Shopping Center in Carbondale Illinois is hands down one of the best burgers in southern illinois. Locally raised beef, freshly cooked with every order, fresh french fries, as good as any of the big three super popular Burger and Fry joints out there. Not really a smashburger, more of a traditional patty. But Super Fresh ingredients, delicious toasted bun, and a pretty wide selection of options. If you find yourself in carbondale, or you just want a road trip to a really good burger, Dale’s Burger shack. Make it a destination asap.

The place was okay. Didn’t have much food besides the grilled cheese but it was just okay as well. The place itself is small and only had two booths on the inside. Not much room for inside eating. Only one table with chairs outside. In total, I just think it’s what I said; okay.

We went here because I eat a vegan diet and my family does not and they have plenty of options for both. It’s not healthy food or anything, but they have some pretty awesome vegan options in an area with few vegan options at restaurants. I got the vegan cheesesteak and sweet potato fries which were tastey comfort food. The family all got chicken strips and fries and were happy with theirs as well.

I’d share pics but we ate so fast there are none! A++++ on everything! Burger was the best we’ve had in a long long time. The Ruben was so good my Dad stopped talking and ate the entire 1/2 pound sandwich Italian Beef was on point and phenomenal customer service!!!!!

I ate here 1 time. No customers were in the restaurant and I waited over 30 minutes for a burger. 100% NOT worth the wait. Have not been back since.. I do love burgers and love supporting local buisness.
