Started out our Austin weekend at Comedor. While it was absurdly hot outside even with the fans and misting, and surprisingly dimly lit, we had a good time. The variety of different dishes we tried were delicious and the service and drinks were solid. I would return again, but specifically request to sit inside.

This is the perfect place to go for a well-lit, intimate happy hour or dinner with friends. If the weather is nice, request the patio for amazing lighting and energy; it’s designed so that you don’t have to hear everybody’s convos.

I would not recommend this place at all. The waiters were nice but the dishes where not good overall. The price/quality balance is really off and there was no dish that was memorable. The portions are really small for the price you pay. Also, they told us every dish had his own story and was served separately but we got two dishes at a time, which made one of the dishes be cold. Also we said we did not like spicy and we got recommended a dish that was too spicy to be eaten and could not enjoy it at all. Also, the dessert tamal de chocolate was so salty that it was hard to eat. I would not recommend this place at all, perhaps we were really unlucky with the dishes. Also, the outside patio is like a sauna and it is impossible to eat there with the Austin heat.

Love this place. A very sexy interior. Staff is always phenomenal. Last night we came in for a couple of cocktails and some apps. We started with a Repo Ginger Habanero and Tio Ponche, both very good. This was followed by the Snapper Tostada: $24. It was good but not exceptional. The temperature was a bit off: parts of it were warm and parts cold. For the second course we had the octopus: $26. It was good but not the best we have had. It was missing the crispiness I expected. With the octopus we ordered the Papas Fritas: $12. These had good flavor, but I would prefer for these to be cut into larger pieces. Overall it was good but not exceptional considering the inflated cost.

It’s a very seclusion restaurant (like it doesn’t look like the restaurant at all from outside) and the entrance is hard to find. I like how private it feels but some people find it pretty confusing.

Bone Marrow Tacos!!!! EPIC!! Great service and super delicious food! Family style dishes, which is cool however the avocado tostada was tiny and not very shareable among 4 people so you’ll need to order a couple of them so you can really enjoy it – everything else was great though and shareable for a table of 4!
