One of the big things I look for when reviewing is service, and the service at Rathskeller was on point. Our waiter was Eric, who was very friendly and helpful in suggesting dishes and drinks.

The food is top notch! It also has a warm, cozy atmosphere. We went for a friend’s birthday. Do not skip on the pretzel! It’s one of the best I’ve ever had

The food was ok but more americanized than German. It was also expensive for what you got. We got a party platter that consisted of 2 schnitzel , 2 sausages and 2 sides. It was $55 and We payed $8 extra for 2 small servings of sauce because it doesn’t come with any. We got the yeagerschnitzel sauce and the Balkan sauce which was supposed to be a tomato/paprika sauce with grilled onions and peppers. The sauce was sweet like a sugary waffle topping. When the waitress came to ask how things were I told her that I didn’t like the sauce because I like savory sauces, not sweet (nowhere in the description does it say it is sweet) and her comment was “I’m so sorry about that” and she walked away. The sauerkraut tasted like it was from a can/jar (nothing special) and the spaetzels were overcooked and mushy and covered in cheese sauce (definitely americanized and not german). The 2 sausages came with 4 dipping sauces (3 of which were sweet), which is another americanized thing.

Tasty flavorful food. Red cabbage had a delightful slight sweetness. The falafel was crisp on the outside with an herby soft interior. The Debreziner was awesome. Potato cakes were crispy and delicious. The restaurant is a pub-style down the steps. A moody fresh interior with German pop music playing. The staff was helpful but not overbearing. The Doppelbock draft was refreshing.

VERY good german food. We got a platter of 2 sausages, 2 schnitzle, braised red cabbage, german potato salad and sauerkraut. All excellent. The sauces were also very good.

Went on a Saturday for lunch with friends. We were a group of 8, had reservations to sit outside in the covered area, and it was a good time. Good selection of German beer on draft, good selection of German food, and the service was friendly and prompt. Large portions, reasonble price. Fun, clean atmosphere, and I’d go again. Recommend trying it out!

Date night with my man of German heritage, so I found this gem in Elkridge.

Very nice German establishment with classic dishes and a simple but exciting menu. There are several vegan and vegetarian options; the eggplant schnitzel with vegan mushroom gravy was delicious as were the sides: braised red cabbage and potato cakes. We started with a pretzel that was excellent, very much a stand out as it was buttery, warm, and had a perfect golden crust. The drinks are equally delicious whether you opt for alcohol or without. This visit I got the Pear Zero, and it was very tasty; last visit I had it

This is our number one go to place when we are around home. We enjoy sitting outside during good weather. The German cuisine is the best around.
