The service was fast and friendly and the portions were large and flavorful. I had the chicken burrito served enchilada style, and would not have had room for sides if I had ordered them. Yes, you can get a drink served in those huge glasses over the counter- they are not just decorative. The bathroom has a changing table for those with children still in diapers. Not a given, so worth noting.

Don’t let the exterior of this place scare you away. The food is authentic, the margaritas are AMAZING, and the beer is cold. Our meal came out fast, hot, and flavorful. The menu is large with a great selection of seafood plates.

Non-descript on the outside, great authentic Mexican food on the inside. The chips and salsa are worth the trip just by themselves. My strategy is always get burritos on my first trip: if you can’t make a basic burrito, why try anything more complicated? The good news is the burrito was fantastic, and my wife loved the chicken dish.

La Unica is the bomb as far as we are concerned. We dined in the late afternoon, so it was not busy, and we had excellent service by Paloma. She was efficient, and kind, and very knowledgeable about the food preparation. She made great recommendations since this was our first time. We had margaritas and they were generous and very tasty. The chips and salsa, both homemade, were a delicious start to our meal. I had the veggie Molcajete and my partner had the Parillada. Both meals came with a large plate of beans, rice, and shredded lettuce. The rice and beans were very, very good! My Molcajete was absolutely outstanding and quite generous, so I took a good portion of my meal home. If I could give 10 stars I would. I’ve heard when they are busy at meal times the service is slow. Since everything is hand made, please be patient if you go at a busy time. You will not be sorry giving La Unica a try. Try to get in Paloma’s section, as she is just the sweetest and most attentive server ever.

The service was top notch! The food was dang near perfect, wish there was a different recipe for the Chile Rellenos as the egg was very thick and over powering in taste. Other than that our meals were very good and price was very reasonable. We did have to drink water due to a soda being $5 though and that was blasphemous.

The tortillas and chips are so good!! I would have put more stars, but I just didn’t like their menudo. The broth was very light in color and didn’t have much flavor. I would try other things that have though!
