In his grandmother’s kitchen in Buenos Aires, Argentina, chef Facundo DeFraia, spent countless hours working side-by-side his grandmother learning the art of Argentinian cooking. Facundo brought his love of cooking to the west coast in the early 2000’s and relocated to Minneapolis to assist his childhood friend, James Beard award nominee, Daniel Del Prado, in opening Martina.
After being named the dough wisperer by Rick Nelson, Minneapolis Star Tribune food writer, Facundo began dreaming up his own pizzeria concept. Inspired by his childhood Boludo was born in 2018 in the quaint Kingfield neighborhood in South Minneapolis. Boludo unites community and people through food and music, bringing a taste of Buenos Aires to Minneapolis.

I ordered through Uber Eats using a gift card I got for my birthday and this pizza was not living up to my expectations though the photos are great. The quality of the boxes the pizzas were in was really impressive, almost like shoe box quality but cardboard. Commend them on the branding!

Very nice cozy neighborhood atmosphere and the staff is extremely polite and helpful. Both the empanadas and pizza are pretty good, and I feel like you can’t go wrong with anything from the menu. It does get pretty crowded because it’s a small space so just be aware of that.

Truly incredible. I can’t wait to come back! The sauce and dough is so fresh. The pepperoni is probably the best I’ve ever tasted. The prosciutto pizza with the fresh, dressed arugula blew my mind. So cheesy, so fresh, so delicious. My companions are utterly obsessed with the churro doughnuts, for good reason. Can’t go wrong with this one!

Pizza and empanadas are AMAZING! I’ve eaten at both locations, the one on Como is small and more of a takeout location but does have some seating. The one by US Bank has a really cool vibe.

Pick-up order of a pepperoni pizza. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Plenty of pepperoni and cheese. Crust is delicious, has a sweet taste that was awesome. The sauce also has a sweetness to it, that was delicious. Pizza was ready on arrival, and hot.

This Boludo is everything you would expect from the original location in south Minneapolis (maybe just a little bit smaller); excellent food, the pizza and empinadas are AMAZING! But other thing they have in common with the original location, is the attitude, it’s not bad attitude or anything, it’s just the employees can be short or take their time with things. It’s like they know their food is amazing and you’ll keep coming back no matter what which is true….

Funky little place. Friendly staff, and the food was definitely prepared fresh. We felt the salad was way too salty, and the red sauce on the pizza was way too sweet. The empanada was spot on.

I heard this place had the best pizza and I was skeptical. All pizza is good pizza, right? WRONG. The flavors in this pizza tantalized my taste buds in all the best ways. There’s so much flavor. The crust is so deliciously crispy and fluffy without being too thick. The toppings are weird as heck and somehow work. 10/10 would recommend to any pizza fanatic.

Sweet sauce makes this pizza inedible. I just wasted $40 on two pizzas. The ham and cheese empanadas were awesome. The beef were good but too salty. The pizza was terrible. The sauce is very sweet (like add a ton of sugar sweet not using perfectly ripened tomatoes sweet. We’d been so excited about trying Boludo based on the hype but it was a major disappointment. $40 worth of pizza went into the trash.

Great food! The pizza crust was delicious, and the sauce and toppings on me and my date’s Sarandara pizza were also delicious We also had tried 2 different empanadas and they were also great, although I preferred the spinach one to the chicken one.
