I’ve had Grotto Pizza else where, but it is so much better at the beach. They have a very nice deck area where my wife and I ate lunch. Which was very delicious. The service was great as well, our waitress was kind enough to take our picture. As the saying goes ” Everything is always better at the beach “.

Nothing says summer at the beach like Grotto’s Pizza. Love the cheese and swirl and the sweet peppers. The side salads are large enough to share, although their house tomato dressing is strange but popular. The Dewey location could use some refreshing. we were seated inside and it was really warm. we asked the waiter if they could turn on the ceiling fans and he said “no, it will just blow dust everywhere.” A gross thought plus just let the customers sit and sweat?

Says Delaware’s best pizza but it was disgusting. I got an overpriced personal pizza with Safeway brand four cheese blend and had to throw the rest away after a single bite. To compound the issue, we had ordered a full pizza because the individual slices they brought were embarrassing and belonged in the trash. Don’t eat the pizza because I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

The pizza was pretty good, but the service….not so much. A big group came in after we ordered, and we were pretty much forgotten after that. The worst part was that we were served old beer(see photo). (Our visit was May 18th)

Overall the pizza is average. But my rating comes from the customer service. I went it to pick up my pizza and the gentleman in front of me ordered 2 slices of pizza as the employee rang him up the price was $8. The customer was upset due to the price and said that’s ok I’ll go somewhere else and proceed to leave. I would have done the same $8 for two slices is not worth it, I could understand if they were larger slices but they were normal. Anyway, this is the part that got me, the employee started to laugh and yell across the dining room “hey he left, the guy left” as both employees were laughing. Not very professional could have handle the situation better and could have been more customer friendly.

For me, the pizza is average. I love it because of the nostalgia alone. As a kid if I was eating Grotto it meant we were at the beach! This location is hit or miss. I feel bad for the staff late night dealing with all the wild drunks but it’s all in good spirit.

Easy stop on our way to Ocean View (Bethany). They have their own parking lot so no searching for a spot. Called our order in on the way, pizza was hot and ready to go when we got there. A couple mixed cocktails from the very nice staff and we were off.
