The absolute best around! We are about an hour away but make a point to go here for special occasions or if we are just in the area. We have been dining at Trey Yuen for 40+ years and always delicious. And don’t forget the dessert purses. We always get a few orders to take home!

This is my absolute favorite place for Chinese food! The boneless chicken is to die for, and my boyfriend finished his entire entree of shrimp and lobster sauce. Our server Hunter was super helpful and attentive, and even snuck us a few almond cookies! 😉 the only reason I give the atmosphere 4 stars is because the owners let all of the koi fish in the front of the restaurant die due to lack of maintenance… I’m hoping that changes since this place’s atmosphere is unlike any Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. I would definitely recommend this place for a get-together or celebration since the portions are huge and filling!

Considering we got there 10 minutes before the kitchen closed, everything was great. I say that because we arrived amid the staff doing their closing duties for the night however we were welcomed, seated, informed of the 10 minute window, and within another 10 had our meal on the table and we were digging in. Good food, really cool building, enjoyed and will be back! Earlier next time!

I started eating here in eighth grade when I was going to Saint Paul’s. Had the best graduation party. Now I’m 54 and coming to New Orleans every two months. I never miss eating here when I’m in town. Top-notch service and the food is always prepared properly and hot. I can’t think of a bad experience I’ve ever had here. If you haven’t tried Trey Yuen what are you waiting for?

Over the years Trey Yuen has had great tasting food. Recently, I went for lunch and then ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice to go. The rice was half cooked, very hard and the food did not have any taste.

I was super excited to take my son to one of my favorite restaurants from 1990’s. I was extremely disappointing. While I love how the owner talks to each table his food quality has gone down hill. My son ordered the vegetables with beef. He took one bite and said mom I can’t eat this the meat tastes bad. I was told my the waitress the tofu dish was fabulous. I was also unable to eat my food. We left full plates and told the waitress we just wanted our checks. SO sad to see food quality has decreased but the prices have increased. We enjoyed the ambiance but we came for the food.

Did the dinner for two and it doesn’t come with much. Two small egg drop soup, two small eggroll and two entrees. The mandarin chicken was cold by the time it came out, wasn’t crispy and dry. The shrimp and lobster sauce was great though. But for a 65 dollar check, I wouldn’t come back.

We have been going to Trey Yuan since moving to Mandeville in 1997. It has been a favorite place since and we never cease to appreciate the wonderful interior woodwork. We’ve been there three times over the last year and the food quality has declined. My favorite meal, the The Four Happiness, has been bland and lackluster – more like frozen food mixed in a Wok. They don’t pull the tails off shrimp so it’s practically shrimp in shell and a pain to deal with using chopsticks. My potsticker appetizer last visit was cold and my fortune cookie was so stale I couldn’t believe it was served. I suspect they are just another restaurant dealing with short staffing, inexperience, and kitchen churn. I’d sure hope they get through this.

What a beautiful building, inside and out! You really get immersed into the Chinese culture with this place. Very meticulous detail to give it a very authentic feel. We came in late at night and knew they were close to closing but the staff was very friendly and did not seem to rush us. Menu selection is fantastic and basically family style because the portions are very generous. The pictures I included of the food were after we had already filled our plates. We got sesame chicken and also bell pepper steak with shrimp fried rice.
