The food was so tasty and the place was clean. The service was very kind but it was a little slower then we expected. It took just under 40 minutes to get our food so we did have to break out the hold fish for the kids. But once the food came it was super good! When you first start nothing is spicy but as you eat it builds and just ends up being a nice warm.

This veteran owned establishment exceeded all my expectations. Their spin on jerk chicken was terrific. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly for a Saturday evening. The customer service was the highlight of my visit, everyone from the cooks and waiters were extraordinarily pleasant and welcoming. I will definitely visit again and recommend dining there.

3.12.23 -Happy Sunday! This review is so long over due but here we go. Firstly, I want to say congratulations- you guys are so incredible and I say that because I would’ve never imagined a Caribbean restaurant in this location and it looks to be so strong standing! On a visit to KS we googled Caribbean food and based off the reviews we drove the 40 minutes here. The ambiance was quite calm, we were greeted by the owner and seated. After a brief Q&A and some laughter we were brought our appetizer ( Jerk wings) I think this was my favorite part of the meal- the flavors did not hold back and the added bbq sauce went perfectly. My boyfriend had the curry chicken and the owner chose the curry goat for me as our entree. Both dishes were good, but being Caribbean I’m used to our dishes being a little more spiced- the owner did tell us and we totally understood based off the demographics, but again it lacked in that area for me.. The purple drink I’m sorry to say I wasn’t a fan of but it came recommended ( try it for yourself ) for me, I just didn’t like the purple syrup it was a bit strong. All in all this was a great venture, the place was lovely, the food is good, the staff was welcoming and it was a definitely a vibe. Definitely give this place a try! If I’m ever again in KS, I’ll definitely make the drive for those jerk wings! Island Spice BIG UP YUHSELF!

This was our first visit to Island Spice to celebrate my birthday and we were so impressed! Dave was so friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions and working to make our night memorable. We opted for the curried goat and jerk chicken – both dishes were delicious and fresh. The beans and rice, cabbage, and plantains added so much to the dishes and we both finished every last bite as the food was so good. Dave helped us both pick mixed drinks that perfectly suited our tastes and helped set the tone. We will definitely be back!

Traveled to the area for a baseball tournament and we are staying at a hotel nearby. I Noticed the Jamaican restaurant walking distance from our hotel earlier in the day and had to give it a try. The service was great. They made sure I was comfortable even waiting the short time for my takeout order. I ordered the curried chicken and it was absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back again next time we are in Leavenworth.
