We stopped by there because it was time for lunch and we just wanted to try a restaurant away from I-35. We are so glad we did. It’s located in a small Danish town of Askov, thus the name Little Mermaid, a Danish fairy tale, and the cafe is used to be the cafeteria of town’s school which was closed in 2004. We feel we learned so much in the one hour we were there. The food was good and the people were so friendly and wonderful. We want to come back to visit their history museum right next door to the cafe next time.

A nice little place to eat in Askov! The food is about average for an American cafe, but the staff there were very friendly and the prices are good. I got the 21 shrimp basket and one of the big cookies, both of which were pretty good. The cafe is located inside of the old school, and I love the way that they repurposed it into a cafe and museum!

Super cool going to a restaurant that is inside an old school. I had biscuits and gravy and that was very good. The waitress was very friendly. When we were done eating, we toured the museum that was inside the old school. Lots of really interesting things in the museum.

Little Mermaid Cafe in Askov is located in a former elementary school cafeteria. Odd and interesting. The food was good. The server was friendly. After eating I spent an hour walking through the school which has been turned into a museum. There was also an antique store in one of the school rooms. It’s a nice place to check out.

We visit often. The little mermaid is so much improved over the past 2 years or so. Visited them with a large party after a funeral, and they were able to accommodate the whole party

They told our club that they had a special of BBQ chicken that will fall off its so tender with potatoe salad, watermelon, corn and roll with butter. It was delicious and everyone that order that said the same. We also ordered a piece of pie, chocolate of course again so good. Will come back again.
