Great food, awesome service and even better prices!! This is probably my favorite dish in the county (quesa birria tacos). It tastes almost as good as the original restaurant in Fort Walton Beach. For some reason the original restaurant just does it a little bit better. Great food here none the less. Long way from its humbled beginnings as a food truck next to its supermarket. Highly recommend this place to locals and visitors alike. And if you have time, check out the one in FWB as well! Support this great local business

I totally recommend! The atmosphere and the friendly service is above A+. My husband and I stopped by to check this place out on a whim and we stayed for drinks and all. They so happened to have Latin night that night along with a performer. The drinks were impressive. The service was amazing. The staff was so welcoming and interactive with us, felt right at home. If you’re looking for great service, family friendly and clean atmosphere, this is your place. Enjoy my friends!

I love this place! I’m from Texas. So when I travel to Destin, my daughter ALWAYS takes me to Mi Gente Restaurant. The food is delicious and authentic. The service is top-notch. I’ve always been met with a smile, and I love that! Herman, the man at the bar, is the best! He can make you just about anything you want to drink. Check him out! The atmosphere is fun! I always meet new people when I go. They have a store next door with hundreds of items from Mexico that may also catch your eye. I always buy candy to snack on while I’m in Florida. I highly recommend it!

Pro tip : Get the jalapeño queso! The chips are a little basic but the queso is really good! They also have some really yummy tacos they have all kinds to choose from. I got the shrimp tacos and they have a Baja style flair to them. I also got an horchata and my significant other got the quesadilla birria tacos (these only coke 3 to an order) and the carne asada tacos. His favorite were the birria. They have a small condiment bar and a pretty wide range of market items. There is a small bar and a pretty large kitchen. It was clean and not very busy. The cashier was friendly but I would suggest having two people run the register since there is one side for the market and one side for the taqueria. There was no language barriers from the staff both Spanish and English speakers are welcome. We will be back to try one of everything on the menu.

Mi Gente is the best place to get real Mexican food in Destin. I had delicious fajitas, and they have tons of traditional meat choices for tacos and burritos — carne asada, carnitas, pollo asado, al pastor, barbacoa, etc. Herman makes an awesome margarita and michelada at the bar — the hours are dependent on whether is it’s the off/on season.

The place is nice but the chairs are SOOO UNCOMFORTABLE you have to order and pay before sitting so you feel rushed and they give you a buzzer that will blink red and vibrate when your order is ready to pick up. They do not take the order to your table. I ordered guacamole and chips as an appetizer and it was not given until the whole order was ready to pick up. I saw the lady making my chips and guac order and she seemed to have put too much chips and put some back (see pic attached) My husband ordered tacos and he loves tacos but did not finish them all he said meat needed more flavor and I agreed because I ordered a burrito and got the same vibe. My older kids got asada tacos and they didn’t finish them either. The fries were great ! I would not come back here tho.

Stopped by while on vacation from TX because someone in our group felt like tacos. Decided to give this place a try. Seemed promising at first, waiter came took our drink and appetizer orders. He came back with the drinks and appetizer and took our food orders, then we didn’t see him again for about 35-40 minutes.
