Great little restaurant on the water. Food was really really good. We had the appetizer sampler thing (some of all of it) and everything I tried was really good. For my meal I had the alligator tail, which I had never had. I enjoyed it alot. Not sure what wife and inlaws had but they did enjoy it very much. Spoke with owner and found out his story and background. Good guy. Good atmosphere, all around a really good establishment. Just drive your boat up to it, dock, and go eat!

Gayle Hinz recently left a review of her take of her experience here at Pop’s Dockside Grill. I’m here to let you know that review could not be further from the truth. Yes, the food took a while to come, but the restaurant was short staffed and only had two people cooking and two people waiting on customers. We were sitting directly across from Gayle and she was honestly THE rudest person I’ve ever encountered in my life. She took every opportunity to take a shot at both waitresses and even the owner. She kept getting louder and louder TRYING to cause a scene. Move over, Karen. Gayle is now in town. I’m not sure if she wanted a free meal or what, because she stated she was leaving as her food was being plated, as the owner was trying to smooth things over with her and said they could put it in a to go plate. She said she didn’t want her food anymore, but when the food was brought out by Taylor (who she scolded saying she knew she ordered the garlic butter shrimp, while in reality Taylor didn’t even take her order), she almost ate every bit of it, so she apparently she did want the food. But wanted to cause a scene even more. She continuously made loud & obnoxious comments the ENTIRE time she was eating her food. SHE is the reason the atmosphere was one star. Every one in her party (who said nothing during the meal because Gayle had the floor) was gracious enough to apologize on her behalf, all while she was standing at the counter paying the bill and RECORDING the waitress checking her out on her cell phone. I couldn’t imagine the embarrassment they felt. It was the worst encounter I’ve ever witnessed in a restaurant. Please do not take her review as the overall experience of Pop’s. We have been going for years and the owners and waitresses have been nothing but good to us. They’ve worked through a pandemic, having no staff, and even no power before. They are great and humble people, but Gayle just wanted her five minutes of fame & relevancy. Please continue to support local businesses such as Pop’s!

Waited 2 Hours for very bad & expensive shrimp! Waitress had Meltdown, slinging our food at us, Yelling & making threats. We Stopped promoting this place over 12 years ago. Well, now we know just how bad it can be here. Warning: Do Not Dine at this place! There are Several other great places that have excellent servers & food selections. We have never had a waitress yell, threaten & take her nasty ungrateful attitude out on us. We dine out a lot as well! She should not be working as a waitress, pushy, nasty, bully! Had her several weeks prior for fast lunch, same attitude toward us, but just thought she was having a bad day! Appears her Boss Jake, 100% allows & supports her temper tantrums & Bullying toward paying & innocent customers.

It was a cute little restaurant, definitely worth a visit. One of the guests with us had shellfish allergies and the staff was more than accommodating and assisting us with ordering for him to avoid any sickness. Unfortunately we were unable to get alligator at our visit.
