I was in Winston for a couple of days and was riding around looking for something to eat and stumbled on this place..We were greeted immediately with smiling faces and the wonderful aroma of soul food.. Our food was absolutely delicious..My wife had the catfish with cabbage and macaroni from the buffet.. I had the barbecue leg quarter with rice and side of beans. Everything was seasoned appropriately and fresh. Upon leaving we were approached by who I assumed was the owner and asked about our experience.. She showed some some recent upgrades and overall made us feel welcome.. Can’t wait to try this place again! 1st Class

I went with 3 of my coworkers. Our food was good – nothing extraordinary. It was set up buffet style. The menu offered basic southern type items. I had a veggie plate – which consisted of 3 veggies – green beans, mixed greens and pinto beans. Also, my coworkers were served meatloaf, baked chicken, mac and cheese, yams, We had no complaints.

Love! Love! Love! We had a large group and we literally tried most every side on the menu. The meatloaf was amazing. The fried chicken was perfect. The fried wiring was super crispy and delicious. The cornbread, collards, mac and cheese, okra, pintos, mashed potatoes, and green beans were ALL delicious. The banana pudding was the perfect finish. Truly loved every bite. Can’t stop thinking about the collards, fried okra, and mac and cheese. Did I mention those already? Sabrina Wingo, the owner, was a lovely host! So sorry I didn’t take pictures of the food to share. Cannot wait to go back!!!

Took a large church party of all ages here to sit in the back room. The service team members were generous and responsive to our large group.

I rarely post reviews, but after my first ever visit to Taste of the Triad today for lunch, 7/25/23, I am compelled to share my joyful eating experience. As soon as I walked in the door, I was welcomed by a dream assortment of soul food’s best dishes – I still have the image of the offerings in my mind – yams, cabbage, potato salad, greens, sweet potato pie, etc. (i.e., for those familiar, it was literally the meme “beans greens potatoes tomatoes you name it”). I ordered a fried pork chop with sides of mac/cheese, green beans, and potato salad, sweet tea, and the complimentary cornbread. And to my delight, their fried plates (pork/chicken/fish) were fried to order, so my pork chop was super fresh, perfectly cooked and seasoned, along with the sides, which were obviously prepared with the care and expertise of someone seeking to recreate the memories of eating at your grandma’s house for Mother’s Day — and it sure delivered. I also want to shoutout the service staff – all were extremely polite and professional, providing a spotless and welcoming environment. Needless to say, I will be returning soon and quite often. Thank you, Ms. Wingo, for ensuring the traditions of soulful food and fellowship continue in our community.

I have tried numberous times to patronize this restaurant. The only thing half worth buying to me is the hamburger with gravy. Nevertheless I tried. I overlooked the owners nasty attitude as well. After not eating there for a while, I decided to stop by to see about having a birthday party there for myself. I like the little karaoke setup. There were 6 guest plus myself attending. I was told that I didn’t have enough guest for her to allow me to pay for my birthday party. I will never return. I have a business as well. I would never host a large event there. My staff would not even fit inside of the little entertainment room. If I’m paying, why decline my offer? I wanted a VIP set up for 7 people. I wanted to be with those who were there for me during my struggles. I didn’t want a crowd. We must be careful how we treat one another.
