We are saddened to announce the end of an era: Shiro of Japan will be closing after over 50 years in business. We have had a long history of introducing traditional Japanese cuisine and culture to Long Island and are very proud of our efforts. Shiro is more than a restaurant – it is a special place that has created countless memories for thousands of families, couples and groups.
All the partners want to personally express our thanks and gratitude to our friend and partner Hiro Ishikawa, whose legacy is undeniable and his contributions to the Long Island and New York dining experience and introducing Japanese cuisine to the public will continue to be felt for decades to come. Hiro will continue to operate Shiro of Japan’s off premises.

Great spot for a hibachi lunch and if hosting a small birthday party it will fit your needs. Our chef was awesome, experienced and funny. The food was delicious. We had a couple of people with egg allergies and they catered for it. The steak and shrimp was cooked perfectly for my liking and my cousins had lobster and scallops which were cooked well. It was just right. For the price it was on par with similar restaurants. The entire staff was pleasant, attentive and accommodating. The drinks were on point according to my aunt. Ample parking in the rear of the building.

This is the first time I have returned since the pandemic. Place is still nice but definitely costs a lot more than before. I spent about $110.00 for 2 person hibachi which used to be about $80.00 but experience was still good.

Firstly AMAZING service very quick waters were never empty and so so kind and caring! I had a few questions about specials and they made sure they got the right answers for me and even let me taste the ramen broth before servicing me the dish! Excellent service and the food was great! I definitely want to come here again when I’m in the area next!

This place is a must go for our family when we want to celebrate a special event on when visitors come. The food is not too expensive considering where it is. The service is fast and entertaining chefs are very good even for little children.

We’ve been here a few times! Their Gamera, Godzilla, and Miro Roll were our favorites! Their best hibachi was the filet mignon! We’ve also tried the seafood trio which was okay. Please go and try their plum wine which was super delicious!

I love shiro. I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 15 years and the food and service is still great. The hibachi options are great. I came here recently and saw some price hike but.. that’s everywhere right now. I eat here so much that i did not take that many pics. But i have a great vid.. i love the hibachi fried rice. Its so good

I had an excellent lunch experience here. I usually forgo the hibachi in a US Japanese restaurant, in favor of the sushi if they have it, or even better, a bento box and lunch. The Sushi Bento had an ample portion, with a great amount of variety. The staff was friendly as well. Highly recommend!
