Came here on Valentine’s Day and it was very busy! We were told the wait was 20-30 min but it only turned out to be 15. And it was good you can leave since they call you anyway. It’s in a strip mall so other shopping and things to do. Half the place is hibachi and other half is tables for sushi. You can order hibachi at the tables too. There is also a bar you can sit at in the back. Decor is nice, pretty casual with pops of color like the red glowing from some of the tables on the left side.

The environment is comfortable and there is plenty of seating for four or more. The food portion is commensurate with the price. Sashimi and nigiri entrees come with salad and miso soup. Food presentation is just like a standard Japanese restaurant.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday at Otaiko Hibachi & Sushi Lounge on Feb. 8th. The service here gets an A and the hibachi dinner with assorted appetizers, plus the delicious sangrias (red & white) get a BIG A+. Our hibachi chef was so nice and funny! He interacted with us all and kept us laughing! What a great guy! Our favorite place for Hibachi is OTAIKO in Bayonne!

I really didn’t enjoy my experience, didn’t feel welcomed at all. The food was okay, they didn’t bring over condiments, had to keep looking for my waitress. Once your experience is messed up it’s hard to enjoy everything else.

Dark and sad ambiance, hot too. Unfriendly staff who look annoyed to have you. Sake and sushi are delicious but the energy in the place might ruin your meal. Location is convenient near shopping center and waterfront but that is about all. Will not likely be back sadly.
