The service was very good and the servers were excellent. The French toast we ordered was the best we’ve had in years. The shrimp & crab Omelette was surprisingly pretty delicious. However, we were disappointed with the chicken burrito my wife ordered. The chicken burrito was less savory and overly sweet. No amount of hot sauce could neutralize the flavors.

I wasn’t happy with the food at the casinos downtown Reno, so i ventured out and found Big Ed’s. The place was busy, a good sign, but we were seated immediately, and service was out standing. The chicken fried steak with made from scratch sausage gravy was exactly what i was looking for. Talk about comfort food. I was home. My brother opted for a shrimp omelet and was also very pleased. It’s definitely worth the stop. It was some of the best food we had on the trip.

A group of 10 of us from 4 countries & 4 states were catching up for the first time in several years. We were thankful to find somewhere that could accommodate our group. Our waitress, Viri (sorry if I spelled it wrong!), was super friendly & knowledgeable (we asked her about the building’s history). Everyone loved their meal. The restaurant is not very big, and was nice and atmospheric. Looking forward to coming back in a few years, and trying out breakfast options.

This place instantly reminded me of the neighborhood bars I know so well from my 20s when I lived in Pittsburgh. I worked and ate in many places just like it. And just like those places the food has a unique style. My waiter Daniel recommended the chicken fried steak and I gave it a shot with 2 over-easy eggs on top. It really hit the spot after fasting overnight. I appreciated the grilled vs toasted English muffin, great touch!

Entertainment Entertainment Entertainment if your a people watcher and want a show while you enjoy a great chicken fried steak. Sit by the window watching the street and enjoy your show and food. Chicken fried steak was good the gravy was good disappointed in the 2 eggs instead of 3. The bread was stale but still alright. My girl had eggs Benedict was really good to. Surprising the place was dead on a Sunday for breakfast which was a good thing no wait.

Food = Great! Coffee = Terrible. A little more effort on the coffee here and it would be 5 stars. The coffee was not drinkable, closer to pond water than coffee. The food was delicious, some of the best breakfast potatoes I have ever eaten. Old school vibes and atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices. Improve the coffee please, recommended.

Though the town gets a little rough in this area, big Ed’s was the best choice. The waitress was kind, the food was fantastic, and it looks kind of like an old saloon, but not themed or anything. When we were leaving the magicians that cooked our food smiled and waved goodbye.

This was my second time ad Bid Ed’s and I will be definitely be back for more. I really enjoyed the pancake and the smoothies and in general there is a relaxed atmosphere about this place. I will bring my kids as well, I am sure they will enjoy it as well. Thanks for the quality service!
