Today was my first visit to the Kabba’s Kitchen food cart on North Albina Street. I ordered the Thié Bou Yapp (pictured), which is Senegalese lamb and rice.

Saw this place in Portland Monthly and knew I needed to try it. I think the food is from Somalia but I could be mistaken. But what a fun food experience.

First time experiencing some Senegalese and Gambian style food. I’m definitely glad to try something new. The chicken yassa was very tasty. The way the chicken is marinated deficient packed a lot of flavors. The Mafe Yapp reminded me of a beef curry type that I’ve had in the past. The Fataya (meat pies) and the Nems (egg rolls) were surprisingly good. I think I can definitely eat these all day long. Also, to wash it down, try their ginger drink. If you are looking for something new, check them out.

My partner and I ordered from here, but somehow the order was lost and we had to place it again once we came to pick it up. The owner apologized profusely and offered to give us the meal for free! We declined as we also own a small business, and things happen!

The menu is loaded with many different types of options that will keep you wanting to come back and try something new! And there homemade hibiscus and ginger drinks are a must! The location is very accessible and has plenty of street parking as well as a parking lot directly next to it. Very clean and organized and you can smell the food a Mile away!

I wish I had taken a pic before I ate it! But, I ordered the #4 Thiebou Yapp with extra spicy seasoning and plantains. The food was well cooked and seasoned with lots of flavor and good portions.

This is a real African food spot that offers a variety of options for you. The lady who served us was friendly and helpful. I had some rice, fish and salad which was really worth it, was too sweet that I forgot to take the picture
