While visiting Mount Pleasant, SC, we looked for a restaurant that was unique. We were greeted and explained the menu. We were given suggestions. We ordered the “Boxcar” and the “Buffalo”. The food was delicious and the dining atmosphere was enjoyable. Highly recommend stopping by.

This place is great! So glad I happened to read the terrible reviews of the local Chipotle I was about to eat at which then inspired me to find this gem instead. The chicken on the sandwich is perfectly cooked and seasoned. So soft and juicy plus the bacon jam was incredible. Fried green tomatoes with the thousand island type dipping sauce were definitely worth it too! Good thing I don’t live in Charleston because this place would be a money pit for me Will definitely come back next time I’m in town though!

Chicken was good, buns soggy, the pimento cheese on the sandwich was less than a teaspoon (couldn’t taste it), sloppy presentation. Zaxby had much better. Price hight . French fries were typical frozen and deep fried. Not returning.

Simple place that just makes the best chicken sandwiches in Charleston (yes, better than Leon’s… Sorry) I had fried with spicy mayo and lettuce, my son had grilled plain. The chicken is extremely juicy, and the coating/ getting on mine was very light and not greasy at all… Just a little crispy, with great seasoning that does fine on its own, though they offer a variety of cheese toppings and condiments to customize.

Stopped in for lunch today and as per usually the quality of the food and the customer service was great! One of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever eaten and the overall quality was A-1. Also the french fries dipped in the special sauce is out of this world good.

Not all locations are created equal. Grabbed a sandwich while I was in West Ashley with the family this weekend and it was delicious, made me realize just how much I missed Boxcar! Juicy, hot, and flavorful. I decided to stop in at the one in Mt. Pleasant on my lunch break on a Tuesday. Worst mistake ever. My food took half of my lunch break. I guess dine in orders take precidence regardless of the order the orders were taken. I ordered the boxcar to go. A couple came in after me ordered two boxcar sandwiches for dine in and yet they received their food prior to mine. They actually ate half of their sandwiches before I even got my to go order. I got back to work to eat, just to find out my sandwich was dry, extremely salty, and tasteless – the peach slaw nothing peachy about it, tasted like plain slaw.

As far as chicken sandwiches go, you won’t find one better! I ordered the Boxcar and my daughter made her own. These sandwiches are HUGE! It is a little pricey, but worth it. You order your sides separately. We tried the fries and fried pickles. Both yummy, but the chicken is where it’s at! If you’re wanting to save a little consider sharing a side. The sandwiches are so big, you don’t need a full side to feel satisfied. So glad I tried this place.
